SACRAMENTO, Calif. -- Paul Craig was having his best exchanges of his light heavyweight bout with Luis Henrique da Silva on the mat.
So when they spent too much time in the standup early in the second round, the Scottish submission artist did something about it. Craig pulled guard, then soon thereafter found himself a winner.
A combination armbar and triangle did the trick, as Craig earned the victory at the 1:59 second mark of the second round of their UFC on FOX 22 matchup at Golden 1 Center on Saturday.
Craig, who was making his UFC debut, improved to 9-0 with eight submission victories.
“My sub game is on point and I thought he was going tired, so I decided to bring him down and I took it when it was there,” Craig said.
Da Silva suffered his first pro loss, dropping to 12-1 overall and 2-1 in the UFC.
