A pair of the top women's featherweights in the world will go at it early next year.
Megan Anderson will face Charmaine Tweet at Invicta FC 21 on Jan. 14 in Kansas City, it was announced Friday during the Invicta 20 broadcast. Anderson has been discussed as a top contender to the 145-pound belt still held by Cris Cyborg.
Anderson (7-2) has three straight wins by TKO under the Invicta banner. All of those have come since she moved from her native Australia to the Lee's Summit, Mo., to train at Glory MMA & Fitness under James Krause. Anderson, 26, stands 6-feet tall and has big-time power in her hands.
Tweet (9-5), who is also around 6-foot, has also won three in a row after falling by first-round TKO to Cyborg in February 2015. The Canadian is coming off a spinning back fist win over Latoya Walker in May. Tweet, 39, has been fighting with Invicta since 2014.
Also at Invicta FC 21, popular female boxer Heather Hardy of Brooklyn will make her MMA debut. No opponent has been announced yet for Hardy.
