Dong Hyun Kim will be replacing Matt Brown to face Tarec Saffiedine in a welterweight bout at UFC 207. The news was first reported by the Las Vegas Review Journal on Tuesday, and was later confirmed by MMA Fighting.
Saffiedine was left without a fight after his original opponent, Brown, was pulled from the bout to be booked against Donald Cerrone at UFC 206 in Toronto. Kim was also left without a fight recently, as he was scheduled to headline UFC Fight Night 99 against Gunnar Nelson, but the fight was scrapped after Nelson pulled out citing injury.
Kim is 6-1 in his past seven bouts with his only loss coming to welterweight champion Tyron Woodley back in 2014. 'Stun Gun' hasn't fought in the 2016 calendar. His last performance was a technical knockout win over Dominic Waters at UFC Fight Night 79 last November. Kim is currently ranked No. 10 in the division.
Meanwhile, Saffiedine, ranked No. 13 at welterweight, is 2-2 since joining the UFC back in 2014. The former Strikeforce welterweight champion last fought at UFC Fight Night 88 earlier this year, losing a unanimous decision to Rick Story.
UFC 207 is scheduled to take place on Dec. 30 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nev. Ronda Rousey will make her long-awaited return to MMA competition by taking on women's bantamweight champion Amanda Nunes in the main event of the card.
