World Series of Fighting has yet to announce its last event of the year, but is already working on the fight card.
Brazilian light heavyweights Thiago Silva and Ronny Markes, originally slated to battle at WSOF 19 in March, will finally meet at WSOF 26, which takes place Dec. 18 in Las Vegas, sources close to the situation told MMAFighting.com on Thursday.
Coming off a first-round loss to Teddy Holder in his WSOF debut, Silva (16-4, 2 no-contest) was scheduled to take on Mike Kyle in August, but was removed from the card after the Nevada Athletic Commission denied his license. His last win came on Oct. 9, 2013, a unanimous decision over Matt Hamill.
Markes (15-3) looks to go 2-0 under the WSOF banner after defeating Cully Butterfield via decision in his promotional debut. The former UFC fighter, who pulled out of a fight with David Branch in April after being hospitalized before the weigh-ins, went 3-2 inside the Octagon from 2011-14.
