Round 1: Herb Dean is the referee for this flyweight fight to kick off the PPV. Cariaso quickly to center, and he delivers a nice body kick. That stung. Now Cariaso comes in with another and gets punished with a counter. They clinch in the center, and the wrestler Cejudo takes Cariaso down. He immediately goes to work trying to pass guard as they carry over to fence. Cariaso has trying to get up, and as he's on a knee he takes a lunging knee in the forearm/side. He's back up, and they reset at center. Big left hand from Cejudo connects, and Cariaso eats it as he rolls to fence. Cariaso looking for a takedown there, working knees know in clinch. They peel away, and Cariaso comes flying in with a superman punch and a left hand, and he suffocates Cariaso against the fence again. They exchange knees in close, nothing landing clean. Finally Cejudo dumps Cariaso on the canvas, and again, with Cariaso in his custody, he goes back to work. He casually turns Cariaso off fence as he bangs home a knee. Now Cariaso gets back up, but he's wearing Cejudo on the fence. Cejudo in total control here, just toiling. It's a constant onslaught, though, as he keeps the pressure. Finally Cariaso gets away, and at center Cejudo tries a high kick -- and another -- both fan. Good round for Cejudo as it closes out. MMA Fighting scores R1 for Cejudo, 10-9.
Round 2: See if Cariaso can turn things around here. First round was all Cejudo. Cariaso comes charging out of corner, but he takes a blunt punch, and now Cejudo plants and fires in an exchange, that gets the better of Cariaso. He lands a right hand off a combo upstairs and that backs Cariaso up. Cejudo follows him to fence, and dumps Cariaso right there, his third takedown of the fight. Posturing up, Cejudo trying to drop elbows, but Cariaso able to stand back up. He can't stay away from Cejudo, who clinches with him and shoves him bodily back to fence. Inside kicks with the knee from Cejudo. Cariaso is bleeding a bit from his nose, it looks like, and he reverses to post Cejudo on fence. Can't get anything going, and after trying to throw Cejudo he backs away. Big body kick from Cejudo, and that was audible...right back to takedown, and he gets in in he middle of the cage. Some nice ground and pound from Cejudo, who gets off a small series of punches before Cariaso snatches his limbs back in close. Still, Cejudo dropping right hands into Cariaso's rib cage. Now Cejudo is up, and he actually lets Cariaso come up. Cariaso does fast lap around cage trying to find his range, and he takes a thunderous kick to the hollow of his ribcage. Big head kick attempt (again) from Cejudo misses by a good country mile. MMA Fighting scores R2 for Cejudo, 10-9 (20-18 overall)
Round 3: Nice combo to start third by Cejudo, and he takes a head kick without flinching. Now He catches a kick and spins Cariaso down to the mat in the center of the cage. It's there he goes back to work. Pressure, pressure, pressure from the Olympic wrestler, who is now delivering elbows, some landing close to the back of the head. Dean warns him to watch the 12-6s. Cariaso is doing his damndest to tie up Cejudo's down-flying limbs. Cejudo pushes on. Again, Cejudo lets Cariaso back up. Beautiful array of striking and grappling from Cejudo, who looks very, very good as a flyweight. A body kick from Cariaso, and just as soon as his leg snapped back he was under siege from Cejudo, who comes in with a nice sally of strikes. Back on fence, and Cejudo uses his leverage and twists Cariaso back to the ground. No quit in Cejudo, who still looks as fresh as he began with under a minute to go. Now Cejudo gets a neck crank, and he tries to strengthen the pressure on the hold, but he can't and Cariaso is out. For his efforts, he's eating big shots. At the very end, Cariaso grabs Cejudo's leg and for a brief moment looked like he might be onto something, but Cejudo spins out. MMA Fighting scores R3 for Cejudo, 10-9 (30-27 overall).
