One of the best prospects in women's MMA will be back in Invicta next month.
Mizuki Inoue will meet Lacey Schuckman at Invicta FC 15 on Jan. 16 in Costa Mesa, Calif., Invicta president Shannon Knapp on the inaugural Invicta FC radio Wednesday.
Inoue (9-3, 1 NC) is coming off a unanimous decision win over Emi Fujino at DEEP Jewels 9 in August. Her last Invicta fight was a Fight of the Year candidate against Alexa Grasso back in February. Inoue, 21, lost via unanimous decision. Previously, the Japanese fighter fell to Karolina Kowalkiewicz, who is now in the UFC, via unanimous decision on November 2014.
Schuckman (11-8) made her Invicta return with a first-round TKO of Jenny Liou in April. Her previous Invicta fights came against Michelle Waterson and current Invicta atomweight champion Ayaka Hamasaki, both defeats. Schuckman, 27, has won four of her last six fights.
Knapp also announced a handful of other fights for Invicta 15. Amanda Bell will meet Ediane Gomes, Christine Stanley takes on Shannon Sinn and Megan Anderson meets Amber Leibrock.
Invicta FC 15 will be headlined by a featherweight title fight between champion Cris Cyborg and Daria Ibragimova. In the co-main event, Livia Renata Souza will defend her strawweight title against DeAnna Bennett. Jodie Esquibel vs. Angela Hill and Lisa Ellis vs. Amber Brown were also previously announced.
