Round 1: Herb Dean is the referee in charge. Rockhold is southpaw, Weidman is orthodox. Weidman and Rockhold exchange inside leg kicks. Weidman whiffs on a punch and so does Rockhold, but it allows Weidman to take Rockhold's back standing. Weidman nearly gets shucked off, but he uses the farside wrist grip to not get reversed. They clinch along the cage. Weidman scores with a knee and then gets a double along the fence. Rockhold, however, stands again. The AKA middleweight eats a knee for his effort. Rockhold lands knees in the clinch, but Weidman drives an elbow over the top. Rockhold locks up a guillotine grip, but Weidman is on top in side control. The referee stands them up for inactivity and Rockhold lands hard kicks. Weidman shoots and is reversed, but a scramble ensues. Rockhold ends up on top.

Round 2: Rockhold lands a hard right hook and series of punches. Weidman is hurt, but survives. Weidman lands a body kick of hi own. Outside leg kick by Rockhold after Weidman switches stances. Weidman scores a body lock, but Rockhold stuffs it and lands a vicious body kick. Brazilian kick from Rockhold misses, but a straight right finds he mark. Good right to the body by Rockhold now finds the mark. Weidman now with his own body kick and inside leg kick. Weidman scores with a hard body kick, but Rockhold lands a hard left.

Round 3: Weidman scores first with a body kick. Rockhold responds with one of his own. Big left hand by Weidman semi-lands and the champ uses it to clinch, but there's no takedown to be had. Two hard body kicks from Weidman score. Hard left hand by Weidman lands and so does a takedown. Weidman is on top now in half guard. Still, Rockhold stands. The two clinch and then separate. Good body kick now by Rockhold. Good two-punch combo lands for Rockhold, but Weidman keeps going back to the body. Another hard body kick for Weidman, but Weidman gets his back taken after a missed spinning back kick. Rockhold moves to mount.

Round 4: Weidman back to the body kick and his right eye is swollen. Rockhold and Weidman jockey for position along the fence with both attempting takedowns. Weidman stuffs a body lock takedown, but not a second when Rockhold reverses direction. Somehow Weidman finds his way to full guard, but he's stuck against the fence. Rockhold is landing good body shots and the occasional shot over the top. Weidman recaptures half guard, but he's getting pounded on. So much is he getting pounded referee Dean stops the fight. That's it. Rockhold is the new champ.
