We already know the milestone UFC 200 will take place next July 9 at the brand-new arena currently being constructed in Las Vegas.
But by the time the event rolls around, will the venue itself be called the UFC Center?
Las Vegas CBS affiliate KLAS reported Tuesday that Zuffa is considering making a bid for the naming rights to the new facility, which is owned by arena titan AEG and MGM Resorts International. While a figure was not named, such arrangements are usually long-term, multimillion dollar deals.
The $375 million, 20,000-seat facility, located behind the New York, New York casino near Interstate 15 at Tropicana Ave., will host major combat sports events as well as concerts. A heavy push is also under way to bring a National Hockey League franchise to the venue, which would be Las Vegas' first major pro sports team.
UFC 200 is expected to be the first sporting event at the new arena, which is slated to open in the spring.
