One of the biggest issues in MMA is fighter pay. We will hear fighters here and there complain about their pay. Two of the main catalysts that keeps talking about this issue are the Diaz Brothers Nick and Nate. Both Diaz brothers are not on some crusade trying to fix fighter pay for everyone else, they are only trying to fix fighter pay when it comes to themselves.
The Diaz brothers are objecting their dislike of their current salary by doing the only thing they can do, which is go on strike and stop fighting. Nate Diaz hasn't fought since November 30, 2013 when he knocked out Gray Maynard. Nick Diaz hasn't fought since March 16, 2013 when he lost a decision to GSP. Nick has been rumored to be the opponent for Anderson Silva when he returns but as of right now, there is nothing concrete.
Dana White responded to one of Nate Diaz's tweets that reads "Some people just suck way too much #UFCd_ _ _ ... An they where cowboy hats" Dana responded with
"Nate can do whatever he wants to do. Nate can sit out and not suck any UFC whatever, for as long as he wants to. Who cares, he's a grown man," "Sit out for as long as you want, sit out the rest of your career, it's your decision. But to start making fun of guys who actually like to fight, and guys who go out there and put on unbelievable fights and people love to see him? [Cowboy] steps up and does what he does. People love 'Cowboy' Cerrone.
As more time passes from the Diaz brothers not fighting, it seems like the public perception on them goes down and their complaints on money falls on deaf ears. So far we are not there yet where fans are completely turning on the Diaz brother just yet. The Diaz brothers do have a loyal following, so it might take longer for fans to turn on them as it would another fighter.
Dana White and the UFC are in a game of chicken with the Diaz brothers, where they will wait until someone blinks first. So far no fighter seems to be on the side of the Diaz brothers publically. Maybe because they don't want to be anti UFC but there is no question lots of other fighters are in the same position as the Diaz brothers but they are continuing to fight.
