Cezar Ferreira returned to the win column at the UFC Fight Night 44 card in San Antonio, Texas, and he wants another opportunity against the last man to beat him.
"If they ask me who I want to fight, I want to fight Dollaway again," Ferreira told MMAFighting.com. "I wasn’t at my best that night, and he took the opportunity he had. I’m not a bad loser, I won’t try to find reasons to explain my loss, but I’m competitive, and I want a rematch. I think this is the right moment, at the UFC (card) in Rio."
UFC is expected to return to Rio de Janeiro on Oct. 25 at the Maracanazinho gymnasium.
"If I’m at my best shape, (Dollaway) doesn’t have a chance against me," he said. "It wouldn’t get past the first round."
"Mutante" blames post-surgery infections for his poor performance against Dollaway, when he lost in 39 seconds.
"I had a terrible camp," he said. "I had a nose surgery, and then I had two infections. I’m normally calm on fight night, but I was too excited and that made me make a mistake. I have no excuses, he knocked me out, but I’m going after him now. We have things to settle."
The Blackzilians fighter changed a few things in his training camp for Craig and if paid off. In a rematch against Dollaway, Ferreira wants the second win of a win streak that will get him closer to the middleweight title.
"I focused on the psychological aspect, things I had to do," he said. "That was the most important change in my camp for this fight. I had to win because that’s what I love to do. I want to win, I want to be a top 10 fighter, I want to fight for the title, I want to win and defend the title. That’s why I always feel I have to win."
