This is the UFC Fight Night 42 live blog for Yves Edwards vs. Piotr Hallmann, a lightweight bout at Saturday night's UFC event at the Tingley Coliseum in Albuquerque, N.M.
Edwards, who is 1-3 (with one no-contest) in his past five UFC fights, will face Hallman, who is 1-1 in the UFC, on the main card.

Round 1: Mario Yamasaki is the referee. Edwards is southpaw while Hallmann is orthodox. Head kick partially lands for the ATT product, but both are firing over and over. Hallmann returns the favor plus lands an eye poke and the bout is temporarily halted. And the bout resumes. Edwards fires a one-two and stops a single leg attempt. Hallmann in on another single and gets to the back of Edwards on his feet. Edwards reverses position, threatens with a guilotine and nails a left hook. Edwards throws a kick and slips, so no works from his full guard. Edwards finds the underhook and manages to stand for a brief moment and in a scramble, eventually gets behind Hallmann as the round ends.

Round 2: Hallmann lands a left middle kick while Edwards scores with a punch, but it's another eye poke for Hallmann and he receives a warning from referee Yamasaki. Edwards stuff another single leg attempt plus scores with a crushing overhand elbow. Now Hallmann is poked in the eye. The bout resumes again. Hallmann attempts a tight waist, but can't get it. Hallmann looking like the fresher fighter. Edwards stuffs a double and then cracks a him with a right hand. Now he's behind Hallmann trying to take his back standing. Edwards tries to push off the fence to sink the other choke, but ends up falling over. Edwards is cut as he turtles. The ATT lightweight stands, but Hallmann is all over him and puts him back down. Edwards controls the far wrist of Hallmann and stands, but eats a few shots along the way.

Round 3: Hallmann is stuffed from a whizzer from Edwards, but is again on a double, although that's stuffed, too. Edwards is exhausted. Hallmann manages to drag Edwards to the floor. As he tries to move to mount from the back of all places, he quickly sinks the rear naked choke. Edwards taps.
