An intriguing welterweight contest was added to UFC Fight Night 44, as undefeated Kelvin Gastelum agreed to take on Nico Musoke in San Antonio, Texas, on June 28. The UFC announced the match-up on Wednesday.
Gastelum (8-0) makes his third appearance since winning the 17th season of The Ultimate Fighter. Right after an upset decision victory over Uriah Hall at TUF 17 finale, Gastelum dropped down to 170 pounds and scored victories over Brian Melancon and Rick Story.
Unbeaten over his last eight bouts, Musoke (12-2, 1 no-contest) returns to the Octagon fresh off a come-from-behind win over Viscardi Andrade in Brazil. Four months earlier, Musoke made waves in his UFC debut by submitting MMA veteran Alessio Sakara.
UFC Fight Night 44 will he headlined by a featherweight clash between Cub Swanson and Jeremy Stephens. An updated fight card can be seen below.
