Three proposed changes to MMA Rules:
1) "Fence Grinding Time Limit"New Rule: Bring in a "30 second Fence Grinding Time Clock": Allow the fighters 30-45 seconds to actively pursue a finish to the fight or significantly advance his/her position, example: Rousey recently finishing McMann. Reason for rule: Using the fence as a weapon to grind down your opponent is unfair and often BORING, for example: recent Velasquez-Cigano fight, where Cain used fence as an extension of his body/weapon and for "boring", refer to the many John Fitch and Benson Henderson fights, for good examples.
2) "Mat Grinding Time Limit" "New Rule: Bring in a "30 second Mat Grinding Time Clock", maybe 45 seconds: Allow the fighters 30-45 seconds to actively pursue a finish to the fight or significantly advance their positions,. Reason for rule: Extended Mat Grinding is often BORING, for example: recent Brazil fights and many GSP fights.
3) "Effective Striking Assessment Time Extension" Bring in a time extension for the judges to better assess "Effective Striking", Reason: There is a "Time Lag" associated with "swelling due to effective strikes" often not noticeable until start of next round. BUT Presently, judges must lock in their score at the end of each round. Reason for rule change: Judges of recent GSP-Hendricks fight, mis-judged the effectiveness of Hendricks striking on GSP in the first and second rounds. Hendricks should have been awarded 10-8 rounds on at least 1, if not 2 rounds and would have resulted in a fight draw or a Hendricks win.
