Chavez vs. Cedeno Added to Ailing UFC 170 Card

UFC 170 has a four fight main card at the moment, and five fights spread out across Fox Sports 1 and Fight Pass platforms. Injuries and negotiations have reduced the card in name value and overall size, as an injury to Rustam Khabilov cancelled his bout with Rafael dos Anjos, a hand injury to Francisco Rivera nixed his fight with bantamweight top ten Raphael Assuncao, and negotiations between Gilbert Melendez and Khabib Nurmagomedov fell through. However, a fight between two UFC newcomers has been tapped to give UFC 170 a shot in the arm.

According to the UFC website, Yosdenis Cedeno will face Ernest Chavez in a lightweight bout.

Cedeno is riding a six fight win streak with three knockouts, and is 9-2 in his professional career. His only losses have been to Ultimate Fighter winner Jonathan Brookins and current Bellator fighter Derek Campos.

Chavez is a perfect 6-0 as a professional, and makes his debut coming off two knockout victories.

UFC 170 is headlined by a women's bantamweight title fight between champion Ronda Rousey and challenger Sara McMann. It takes place in the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas on February 22nd.
