Why do fighters only fight 2/3 times on average a year?

I'll make this a quick one.

I know people will say that I don't know what it is to prepare for a camp, or fight, or etc, but I feel the same point was brought up when the NFL was trying to add 2 more games to the regular season. Why do fighters only fight 2/3 times on average a year?

If fighters where doing 5/6 fights a year they would get a better salary, more exposure, better sponsorship, and all the other good things. The UFC wouldn't have to carry 400 and something fighters to be able to cover all the events in a year and would be able to carry less, thus being able to pay more and keep better quality fighters in roster only.

A training camp is say 6-8 weeks if the fighter is already in good shape? So a fighter could easily do 5 fights, still take 2 weeks time after every bout. That leaves 6 weeks for vacations.

I know a lot of people will disagree, but I'm looking forward to hear others' opinions.
