This is the UFC 169 undercard live blog for the UFC 169 event at the Prudential Center in Newark.
There will be seven fights on the UFC 169 undercard. John Makdessi vs. Alan Patrick, Chris Cariaso vs. Danny Martinez, Nick Catone vs. Tom Watson, Al Iaquinta vs. Kevin Lee, Clint Hester vs. Andy Enz, Tony Martin vs. Rashid Magomedov, and Neil Magny vs. Gasan Umalatov will be featured on the prelims.

Neil Magny vs. Gasan Umalatov
Round 1: Gasper Oliver is our referee. Magny kicks the body then paws out his jab. Umalatov sidesteps a flurry then goes low. Magny bullrushes inside and Umalatov clinches. Magny breaks out then continues to work his left hand from distance. Umalatov seizes a single and hoists Mangy onto the canvas. Umalatov eats and upkick and Magny explodes to his feet. Magny changes levels but can't do anything with it. Magny stalks forward with a one-two. Umalatov eats a combination and cracks Magny with an overhand right. Great takedown defense from Magny wards off the Umalatov bullrush. Umalatov briefly gets a trip, but Magny returns the favor and ultimately takes Umalatov's back. MMA Fighting scores it 10-9 Magny.
Round 2: Mangy continues to pop his jab and stalk forward with long rangy punches. Magny closes the distance, scores with a few short knees to the body, then cracks Umalatov off the break. Umalatov finally answers with a hard right to the ribs. Mangy the aggressor here. Out of nowhere, a huge overhand right nearly crushes Magny. Umalatov catches a double leg attempt then briefly hunts for a guillotine. Magny defends and continues to work for the trip along the fence. Magny breaks and then circles left, pawing out straight punches. We're back along the fence, and Magny trips Umalatov to the mat, quickly taking his back. Magny flattens Umalatov off and unloads with punches, but there's the horn. MMA Fighting scores it 10-9 Magny. (20-18 Magny.)
Round 3: Umalatov's corner asks for desperation between rounds. Umalatov comes out stalking. Magny circles and works his reach. Umalatov eats a hard left. Big swing and miss from Umalatov. Magny wades forward with a one-two. Magny continues to circle away from the fence. Umalatov rushes inside and gets Magny to one knee, but he can't complete the takedown. Good exchange, Magny gets the better of it. Another big swing and miss from Umalatov. Magny kicks to the body. Umalatov wrestles Magny to the mat, landing inside Magny's full guard. Umalatov looks to pass and Magny quickly scrambles to his feet. Magny muscles Umalatov against the fence and goes to the body with knees. Wild spinning back kick misses for Umalatov. Tony Martin vs. Rashid Magomedov
Round 1: Gasper Oliver is once again our referee. Martin and Magomedov playing a bit of patty cake to start us off. 40 seconds in, Magomedov goes low with a kick. There's our first strike. Martin ties up along the fence and muscles Magomedov to the mat, landing in side control. Martin lands a few short elbows. Martin tries to leap into mount but Magomedov defends it. Martins ends up in half guard on the opposite side, then steps over for a kimura. Martin rolls, then rolls again and transitions the kimura into an armbar. Wow, Magomedov is in a ton of pain. Magomedov's face twists in agony, but amazingly he scrambles out. Incredible sequence. We're back on the feet. Martin pokes out his jab and circles. MMA Fighting scores it 10-9 Martin.
Round 2: Martin closes the distance and hunts for a double against the fence. Magomedov fights it off. Martin attempts a lateral drop but winds up on bottom. Magomedov steps over into half guard. Hard elbow from Magomedov. Martin slips in his butterfly hooks and scrambles to his feet. Martin circles right and Magomedov goes low with a kick followed by a knee to the midsection. Magomedov looks to follow up but Martin sidesteps. Magomedov smacks a pair of kicks into Martins' ribs. A few careful exchanges bring the round to close amidst a slow dribble of boos. MMA Fighting scores it 10-9 Magomedov. (19-19 overall.)
Round 3: Both men standing square in the pocket. Martin opens up first with a jab, but Magomedov lands a hard counter right. Magomedov sprawls out of a takedown attempt, but Martin is relentless. Martins changes levels against the fence and transitions into a single. Magomedov showing some fantastic takedown defense. Martins finally bails on the takedown attempt. Magomedov sinks in a guillotine and cranks HARD. Martin twists to the mat, and Magomedov follows him down. Martins guts it out but eats a huge salvo of punches for this troubles. Martins stands but Magomedov isn't giving an inch. Another big volley of punches from Magomedov, as well as a hard high kick. Martins drops for a single against the fence but can't get it. Blood is smattered across Martins' face. Oliver resets us in the center of the cage. Magomedov shucks off a takedown attempt and kicks high. Wow, Martins' face is busted up. Oliver wants the doctor to take a look. We're back, and Magomedov continues to pour it on. Martins ties up along the fence. One more big exchange closes us out. MMA Fighting scores it 10-9 Magomedov. Clint Hester vs. Andy Enz
Round 1: For the third time in a row, Gasper Oliver is our referee. Hester feigns then kicks low. Hester catches Enz with a massive looping hook. Huge shot. Enz topples then dives for a desperation takedown. He can't get it but he's surviving. Hester cracks Enz with another monstrous left. Enz eats it and fires back! Wild sequence going on here. Hester might have slowed already, but he digs into the body with a right. Enz blocks a front kick. Hester lands another big shot. Enz is still in this. And just like that, he catches Hester with a right. Enz nearly blasts Hester with a high kick. Hester does the same. Good action this round. MMA Fighting scores it 10-9 Hester.
Round 2: Enz counters a low kick with a kick to the body. Hester bullrushes Enz to the mat. Hester looks to pass but Enz scrambles to his feet. Enz eats another big shot on the way up. Man, nothing fazes this kid. Enz sidesteps a slow left hook and counters. Solid left lands for Hester. Enz lunges forward and Hester puts him on his back, landing in half guard. Enz reclaims his guard. Hester stands. Enz does the same and eats a huge head kick. Enz continues to trudge forward with straight punches. Hester picking up his movement here, but very little action. A few boos trickle in at the horn. MMA Fighting scores it 10-9 Hester. (20-18 Hester.)
Round 3: During the break, John Crouch tells Enz he's down two rounds to zero. Let's see if we see some desperation. Hester and Enz trade high kicks. Enz runs into a hard left. Enz ducks under a spinning back fist and fires off a counter. Hester follows up with a straight right. Enz pokes out his jab. Enz and Hester standing and trading. Huge right nearly blasts Enz. Hester works his jab, then goes low. Enz stands right inside the pocket and piles on the strikes. Nothing lands significant but he's keeping busy. Enz cracks Hester with his long jab. Here come the boos. Hester lunges into a left hook, then changes levels. Enz almost destroys Hester with an illegal elbow but he held off just at the nick of time. MMA Fighting scores it 10-9 Hester. Al Iaquinta vs. Kevin Lee
Round 1: Gasper Oliver finally gets a break. Herb Dean is our referee. Iaquinta swings wildly and misses. Lee pops Iaquinta with a few jabs. Stiff left drops Lee! Iaquinta swarms and Lee scrambles back to his feet. Iaquinta can't connect on any follow-ups and Lee seems to have recollected himself. One-two from Iaquinta. Lee eats another jab. Lee hunts for a single but Iaquinta absolutely dives on a heel hook. Wow, that was gnarly. Lee trying to defend but his right leg is trapped. Lee finally wriggles free and takes Iaquinta's back in a scramble. Iaquinta stands, blocks a knee and wrests free. Wild overhand right misses for Lee. Iaquinta goes low. Lee bounces on his heels and connects on a few straight punches. MMA Fighting scores it 10-9 Iaquinta.
Round 2: Lee swings and misses. Iaquinta doubles up on his jab. Lee eats a hard right, then ducks under and wrestles Iaquinta to the mat. Lee takes his back with a quickness and snakes in a rear-naked choke. Oh wow, this is deep. Iaquinta trying to peel Lee's arm away but it's deep under the chin. Holy crap. No clue how Iaquinta survived that, but he frees his neck. Lee still locked onto Iaquinta's back with a body triangle. Lee waits, then slithers in another rear-naked. No dice. Iaquinta pries away Lee's left arm. Lee frees it, cracks Iaquinta with a short elbow, then rolls to his side and begins to hunt for another rear-naked. This is a tough, tough spot. Lee smashes across Iaquinta's face with his right arm, but can't get anything. There's the horn. MMA Fighting scores it 10-9 Lee. (19-19 overall.)
Round 3: Quick right hand from Iaquinta puts Lee on his heels. There's another. And another. Iaquinta blocks a high kick, sprawls away from a takedown, then dives for another heel hook. This time Lee was waiting for it, and he scrambles to his feet. Iaquinta blasts Lee with a head kick. Lee just misses with a hard knee then briefly slips to the mat. Crazy sequence here. Iaquinta tried to hoist Lee up but Lee had none of it. Iaquinta catches Lee coming inside with a flurry. Lee changes levels but Iaquinta stuffs the takedown. This is still up for grabs. Iaquinta denies another takedown attempt. Lee connects with a right. Iaquinta wades forward and pumps his jab. Iaquinta goes body-body-head. Wild exchange closes us out. Nick Catone vs. Tom Watson
Round 1: Herb Dean is back to oversight this middleweight fight. Catone standing orthodox instead of his normal southpaw. Watson blocks a high kick and stalks forward. Watson goes high and misses. Catone eats a jab and fires back to the body. Catone lunges in with a straight right. Watson trying to chop down Catone with low kicks. Catone drives into a double. Watson defends along the fence and releases. Both men trade body kicks. Catone muscles Watson to the canvas, but Watson immediately scoots towards the fence and climbs to one knee. Catone still working to complete the takedown, and he finally does. There's the horn. MMA Fighting scores it 10-9 Catone.
Round 2: Catone swipes with a quick right. Watson eats a left and counters. Watson goes back to his low kicks, while Catone unloads with his right. Watson blocks a high kick. Another low kick from Watson. And another. Catone's left leg is a deep shade of red. Another low kick, and this time Catone takes it down to the canvas, landing in side control. Watson scrambles to his feet and Catone follows. Catone blasts into a double and plants Watson on his back. Watson trying to posture up against the fence, but Catone ducks under, nearly takes his back, and secures side control. Watson finally gets to his feet along the fence. Round 3: Right hook connects for Catone. Watson goes low with kicks again, and again, and again. Looks like Catone got poked in the eye. Dean didn't see it so Catone is forced to continue. Both men just standing and trading high kicks. Watson wades forward and lands a flurry. Catone finds a home for an uppercut inside the clinch, followed by an overhand. Catone drags Watson to the mat briefly. Catone eats a right and storms forward, powering Watson to the canvas and taking his back. Watson avoids getting flattened out but Catone is all over him. Weird fight to score. Could easily see this being 29-28 or 30-37 Watson just based on damage. MMA Fighting scores it 10-9 Catone.

Chris Cariaso vs. Danny Martinez
Round 1: Herb Dean gets a breather as Keith Peterson is our referee. Martinez immediately shoots for a double along the fence. Cariaso drops low, rips through double underhooks and defends. Martinez nearly eats a high kick. And another. Martinez slips off a counter, then ducks under for a double. Cariaso again using the fence to his advantage. Cariaso fights it off and we're back in the center of the cage. Cariaso tosses out another high kick then fires off a straight left. Martinez closes the distance and finally completes a takedown. He can't do anything with it. Cariaso climbs to his feet against the cage. Martinez continues to work, hoisting Cariaso in the air and slamming him on the mat. MMA Fighting scores it 10-9 Martinez.
Round 2: Cariaso takes the center of the Octagon and double pumps his jab. Martinez responds with a flurry. Cariaso ducks in and out of the pocket and finds a home for a few looping hooks. Cariaso continues to stalk forward while Martinez swings and misses. Huge uppercut misses wildly for Martinez. Martinez closes the distance and shoots for a double against the fence. It doesn't work, but he tries again. No dice. And here come the boos. Cariaso works his jab. Cariaso cracks through Martinez's defense with a one-two. Martinez swings wildly then dives in for a double. He finally gets it. Cariaso scoots his back to the fence, posts up and stands. Martinez is stifling, but this crowd is getting pretty restless. Martinez dives back down for another double, and eventually gets it. Cariaso pops back to his feet instantly. MMA Fighting scores it 10-9 Cariaso. (19-19 overall.)
Round 3: Cariaso catches Martinez coming inside with a hard left. Martinez is hurt. Cariaso stalks forward with his right. Martinez goes up high and cracks Cariaso with a looping left. Dang. Big exchange from both guys. And Martinez goes back to hunting for a double against the fence. Cariaso defends and releases, but Martinez powers him to the mat right after. Martinez is unable to do anything from top position, as Cariaso pops right back to his feet. Martinez wades back inside and we're back in this same position -- Martinez hunting for a double along the fence. Cariaso defends, then throws out a few high kicks. Low kick from Cariaso. Cariaso is absolutely peppering Martinez from range. Cariaso blasts Martinez with a one-one-two. Cariaso opening up with 30 seconds left. Flying knee misses for Martinez. Patrick wades forward with a flurry. Nice inside leg kick from Patrick. Makdessi ducks under another spinning backfist then pops Patrick in the chin. Makdessi slips a wild capoeira kick. Knee to the body connects for Patrick. Man, Patrick is massive compared to Makdessi. Patrick pumps his jab. Makdessi does the same. Patrick blasts through Makdessi with a double leg. Round 2: Patrick pushes forward and gets caught with a straight right. Patrick kicks to the body. Makdessi answers with the same. Solid exchange inside the pocket. Patrick just blew through Makdessi with a double. Wow. The cage actually caught Makdessi, so he manages to avoid any bad spots. Slow going here. Patrick lunges forward with a left and misses. Leg kick from Makdessi, followed by a spinning back kick. Another wild telegraphed capoeira kick whiffs for Patrick. Makdessi is struggling to close the distance. And here come the boos. Makdessi gets Patrick in the pills, gives him a second, and we're back. Rogan just admitted, "This is unfortunately an uneventful fight." He's not wrong. Patrick just bumrushes Makdessi against the fence, but can't complete the takedown. Makdessi works the body. And there's those boos again. Well, that was something.
