Stanislav Nedkov targets summer return to UFC after knee surgery

Stanislav Nedkov wants to get back on track in 2014.

The UFC fighter, who has fought only once a year since 2010, was last seen inside the Octagon in February 2013, and still has no date to return. Nedkov suffered a right knee injury, and had to undergo surgery to repair the anterior and posterior cruciate ligaments.

"I'm injured and now recovering," Nedkov told MMAFighting.com. "I hope (to return in) the summer."

Nedkov (12-1, 1 no-contest) signed with the UFC in 2010, but only entered the cage in 2011 with a TKO victory over Luiz Cane in Rio de Janeiro. Fifteen months later, the Bulgarian fighter suffered his first professional loss against Thiago Silva, but the result was overturned to a no contest after the Brazilian tested positive for marijuana metabolites.

Nedkov decided to cut down to middleweight after the bout, and fought Tom Watson on Feb. 16, 2013, suffering a second-round TKO on UFC on Fuel TV 7’s "Fight of the Night".

His next fight will be in the middleweight division, and Nedkov has big goals for his future inside the Octagon.

"I want the title," he said, "and I am ready to fight anyone for it."
