UFC Fight Night 35 results: Brad Tavares decisions Lorenz Larkin

Pat Lovell-USA TODAY Sports

Maybe Lorenz Larkin had a tough weight cut. Maybe he had an illness.

Or maybe Brad Tavares was simply too much to handle.

Larkin, a dangerous striker from Riverside, Calif., looked slow and sluggish in the first two rounds of their welterweight fight Wedneday night at UFC Fight Night 35. While he picked up the pace in round three, it wasn't nearly enough, as Tavares cruised to a relatively easy victory in the welterweight division.

All three judges scored the fight 29-28 in Tavares' favor.

Tavares, the 26-year old Hawaiian, outstruck and outlanded Larkin throughout the first round, as Larkin seemed disinterested in engaging. Round two was more of the same, but at a quicker pace.

Larkin finally showed some urgency in round three, landing solid strikes and winning the round. But it wasn't enough.

Tavares improved to 12-1. It was his fifth straight win, all via decision. Larkin dropped to 14-2 (1 NC), his second loss in his past three fights.
