John Moraga aims to bounce back at UFC Fight Night 35. - Esther Lin, MMA Fighting

This is the UFC Fight Night 35 live blog for John Moraga vs. Dustin Ortiz, a flyweight bout at Wednesday night's UFC event at the The Arena at Gwinnett Center in Duluth, Ga.

Moraga, who is 2-1 in the UFC, will face Ortiz, who won his UFC debut this past November, on the main card.

Round 1: Both fighters open orthodox with Moraga taking center Octagon. Moraga reaches on a single from the outside, but is stuffed. Ortiz hits a double in the center of the cage, but can't quite get Moraga down. He presses Moraga into the fence, but Moraga whizzers hard to stay upright. Ortiz scores double underhooks and yanks Moraga to the mat along the fence. Moraga locks him up in full guard, but he's trapped along the fence.

Round 2: Outside leg kick to start the round for Moraga. Right uppercut, left hook combo finds the mark for Moraga as does another outside leg kick. Ortiz lands his own left hook in the pocket. Ortiz is switching stance, but only throwing strikes from orthodox. Brutal left hook stumbles Ortiz plus a knee lands for Moraga and Ortiz is temporarily stunned. Ortiz slips off a trip and Moraga is all over him. He takes the back of Ortiz and nearly scores a very tight rear naked choke, but Ortiz escapes. He briefly moves to side control and attempts to take the back of Moraga, but Moraga shucks him off and lands a crushing left hook as they stand. Ortiz misses on a double, but hits a slide by and briefly takes Moraga's back. Moraga escapes just as the bell sounds.

Round 3: Ortiz fails on a double. Moraga thinks about locking up an anaconda choke, but abandons it and they separate. Outside leg kick for Moraga scores. And another for Moraga who also uses footwork to keep the fight in the center. Moraga fakes a double and Ortiz easily stuffs it. Ortiz catches a kick and lands a right hand. In the center of the Octagon, Ortiz hits a beautiful double and puts Moraga flat on his back. Moraga bumps his hips and stands. He stuffs another Ortiz takedown, but tries his own and is reversed.
