Ronaldo "Jacare" Souza nearly polished off Yushin Okami at the outset of their UFC Fight Night 28 co-main event bout. After landing a huge kick, he unleashed a huge flurry of right hands that nearly put the Japanese veteran out.
But Souza (19-3, 1 NC) didn't get flustered in the Octagon in Belo Horizonte, Brazil. Instead, he unleashed a picture-perfect right to the jaw then unleashed another flurry. This time, referee Leon Roberts waved off the middleweight fight at 2:47 of the first round.
The former Strikeforce champion is rocketing his way up the middleweight ranks. He's won five fights in a row, all of them finishes.
"I have a very tough right hand," Jacare modestly stated through an interpreter, before giving an "I"ll fight whoever the UFC wants me to fight," answer on what's next.
Okami (29-8) had a three-fight win streak snapped.
