I consider mmafighting to be the mma site with the most intelligent articles and debate. With that in mind, I ask my audience to consider some potentially controversial musings. 1) Yushin Okami would have never been let go if there was a fighters union. In no way is this a push for unions or a value judgement that Yusin should still be on the roster. Just an observation. 2) Yushin Okami and Roger Gracie being cut shows that the UFC wants to build the depth of the newer, lighter weight divisions. Now, I wasn't in the marketing department or boardrooms of the UFC, so I don't know for sure. At this point, it's merely conjecture. This is good news for WSOF and Bellator. They can sign two household names. Consider that lesser know names such as Francis Carmont, Nick Ring and James Head are still on the UFC roster. Letting go of Okami and Gracie in place of lesser known fighters may prove to be a mistake. People can disagree all they want. Personally, it would be nice to read an intelligent rebutall to my views. I look forward to reading some feedback.
