You don't have to look any further than his last fight. It was one of my favorite fights ever because I was expecting so little and the fighters gave so much. Gustafsson took it to Jones and busted him up like we've never seen before. Half way through the 4th I thought Gus had it, but Jones showed the warrior within and took the fight back. It was awesome. Afterward he said that he was grateful for the opportunity to show his warrior spirit. I liked that Jon Jones.
But he just couldn't let it stand. Jones bugs me because I can't tell if he's trying to play the heel, is fake, or just doesn't get how he comes across. First the comments about watching the fight 10 times and declaring he won decisively. You can't use the word "decisive" when you ended up in the hospital, many saw it differently, and you had to watch the fight 10 times to cement your own opinion. Perhaps it was just a poor choice in words that should be forgiven, but that wasn't the end of it.
Then he says he was only feeling 70% for that fight. Damn it Jones! When you say that you're also saying that Gustafsson didn't perform well and that's BS. The top level fighters are so close that saying 70% should mean he doesn't even belong in the UFC. Jon, are you trying poke at Gustafsson and his fans? It feels like you're trying to take back a great fight that I really enjoyed. Why couldn't you just leave it like you did in the octagon?
And it's not just this fight. I always wonder if what I'm hearing is the real Jon Jones. I'm OK with an antagonist, a humble guy, or a guy that lets his fights do the talking. Please pick one and stick to it.
