Bellator announced the complete lineup for the Oct. 4 night, and two UFC veterans will make their debuts in the semi-finals heavyweight tournament.
Cheick Kongo and Lavar Johnson are set to compete in different brackets of Bellator's four-man heavyweight tournament, as they meet Mark Godbeer and Vinicius Queiroz in Visalia, California.
Kongo (18-8-2) headlines Bellator 102 coming off a first-round knockout loss to Roy Nelson at UFC 159. Prior to that, the Frenchman went 11-5-1 inside the Octagon, including victories over Shawn Jordan, Pat Barry and Mirko Filipovic.
Godbeer (8-1) also makes his Bellator debut on Oct. 4, and he meets Kongo following a TKO victory over Catalin Zmarandescu, bouncing back from his only loss in MMA to Anthony Taylor. Godbeer’s eight wins include six knockouts and two submissions.
Johnson (17-7) looks to return to the win column after back-to-back losses inside the Octagon against Stefan Struve and Brendan Schaub. Johnson went 5-4 when fighting in Strikeforce and UFC, with all of his wins coming by way of knockout.
Queiroz (6-3), the only fighter in the tournament who was already a Bellator competitor, is 1-2 inside the cage. The Brazilian submitted Mark Holata at Season 7’s heavyweight tournament quarterfinal, but then lost to Alexander Volkov in the semifinal.
Bellator 102 will also feature Summer Series’ bantamweight tournament final with Anthony Leone vs. Rafael Silva, and the winner of this bout earns a shot at Eduardo Dantas’ 135-pound championship. Two middleweight tournament semifinals complete the main card, with Perry Filkins vs. Brennan Ward and Jason Butcher vs. Mikkel Parlo.
