Round 1: John McCarthy is the referee in charge of the action. The fighters are exchanging leg kicks with Carmont seemingly getting the better of them. Carmont level changes and scores a double, but Costa is working his way to the cage. Philippou is able to take a knee, but Carmont is still glued to him. Philippou avoids a rear naked choke, but has to go back down and into half guard to avoid it. Philippou recovers full guard. Philippou was briefly able to secure an oma plata, but Carmont stands, turns him and moves into side control. Philippou attempts an arm bar as the round closes, but can't get it.

Round 2: Carmont times another takedown in the center of the cage and gets it. Philippou tries to scoot to the cage and eats a knee to the body. Carmont nearly moves to 3/4 mount before Philippou captures half guard. The referee stands them up. Carmont shoots again and gets another takedown and locks up a kimura grip, but Philippou defends it. Carmont is all over him on top with positional control even through change and scoring with heavy shots.

Round 3: Carmont throwing head kicks as he switches stances. Carmont reaches for a leg, grabs it, drives Philippou to the cage, picks him up and drops him hard on the canvas. Philippou is getting absolutely routed here. Philippou briefly attempted a guillotine as Carmont stood up and tried to fire shots on top, but it went nowhere. Carmont in absolute control on top with punishing strikes and brief moments in mount. Philippou did nothing there.
