This is the UFC Fight Night 27 undercard live blog for the UFC Fight Night event at the Bankers Life Fieldhouse in Indianapolis.
There will be six fights on the UFC Fight Night 27 undercard. Dylan Andrews vs. Papy Abedi, Justin Edwards vs. Brandon Thatch, Darren Elkins vs. Hatsu Hioki, James Head vs. Jason High, Zak Cummings vs. Ben Alloway, and Roger Bowling vs. Abel Trujillo will be featured on the prelims.

Roger Bowling vs. Abel Trujillo
Round 1: Referee is Rob Hinds for this lightweight bout to kick things off. Bowling is ready to roll; he had to be told to get back in his corner and wait. But here we go. Nice right slammed home by Bowling right off. He follows that up with a little flurry, and then Trujillo lands a swift counter that lands. Neither guy getting out of the way from early punches. Big sweeping right hook from Trujillo glazes Bowling. Bowling changing levels and throws a combination before shooting in for takedown. Scoops up Trujillo and dumps him to the canvas. Trujillo bounces right back up and lands a knee en-route. Trujillo keeping the center of the cage. They plant and throw at each other and each eats a punch. These exchanges are brave, if not a little incautious. Now Trujillo with has Bowling on the ground, and gets to side control. Trujillo with some heavy knees to Bowling's thighs. Now Bowling grabs the neck for a guillotine attempt along the fence; Trujillo squirming and prying out. Gets out of that danger, but into a different kind — Bowling's elbows. Now, towards the end of the round another guillotine from Bowling, but doesn't get it. MMA Fighting scores the round 10-9 for Bowling.
Round 2: Pretty frenetic first round; we'll see if they can keep it up. Bowling starts with a body kick that glances Trujillo, and Trujillo working the jab. Trujillo chasing a little bit on the counter, missed on a left uppercut, and Bowling shoots in and dumps Trujillo momentarily. Can't keep him down, but holding on to try and finish. Now they separate, and when they do Trujillo lands a good hook. Bowling still bringing the heat, now throwing straight lefts that are slipping through to touch Trujillo's chin. Trujillo, who looks like he might be slowing down a little bit, moved back to the middle of the cage. Good body punch from Bowling. Now they stand and trade along the cage, and Bowling lands some good shots but then eats a dangerous counter that slows him down. He takes Trujillo down along the fence, and, once again, Trujillo able to stand up pretty easily. Both guys breathing hard. Nice feint from Bowling, and he crashes a right hand home which lands flush. Inside of a minute to go, Bowling shoots back in and takes Trujillo down. Now working a rear naked choke which he began from the side, but can't complete it. As he gets out, we have an illegal blow from Trujillo. He landed two illegal knees to Bowling (one to chest, one to head); he gets deducted a point for the blatant violation. Bowling still down, though. He is bleeding profusely. Doctor looking at him. And that's it -- the fight is over. Doctor says that Bowling was knocked out, and is unable to continue. Bowling still not all there, tries to continue the fight. Stitch now wiping him down.
UFC Fight Night 27 results: Fight ruled a no contest due to Trujillo's "unintentional foul" (illegal knees to grounded opponent). Official time of stoppage 4:57 of Round 2.
Zak Cummings vs. Ben Alloway
Round 1: Welterweight bout here. Third man in the cage is Gary Copeland. Big wide stances as they circle. Cummings the southpaw with the left coiled. Cummings snatches the right leg and pushes Alloway to the fence. Cummings able to take Alloway down. Doesn't last long. Alloway back up. Alloway at the center of the cage, gets a clinch and lands a short punch, and Cummings plows him back up to the fence. Some dirty boxing from Cummings. He's laboring for that takedown. Alloway with a whizzer, and he's doing a good job of countering the attempts. Finally Cummings able to scoop Alloway up and dump him. Immediate Alloway rolls, and Cummings now grappling, transitioning into a D'Arce choke. And just like that, Alloway taps. It's over.

James Head vs. Jason High
Round 1: Referee for this welterweight fight is Herb Dean. High circles for first half a minute. Now in center of cage he gets Head down, and looking to work the ground and pound. High lands a couple of shots and the grabs a guillotine. Head rolls, but it's no good. He has to tap. Jason High snatched that guillotine and held it, forced him to tap from mount. Great persistence to hold that choke.

Darren Elkins vs. Hatsu Hioki
Round 1: Ref is Dan Miragliotta. Hioki his usual postured self, allowing Elkins to initiate action and then countering. Elkins obliging, coming in with hand combos. Elkins bobbing and doing a good job setting up his right. Hioki, though, counters with a right and momentarily stuns Elkins. He's okay though. Now it's Hioki in the middle of the cage. Already some blood on Hioki's face. Nice head kick glances Elkins there. Tries to kick Elkins body, but Elkins catches his leg and drives him into the fence. Now they are back to center, and Hioki lands a big stiff right hand. Another body shot to Elkins. He looks like he's in some trouble. Now Elkins on his knees, and Hioki goes to work on the ground. He transitions quickly, and Elkins rolls to 50/50. Elkins able to stand back up. Now it's Elkins working for the single leg. He has Hioki against the fence on his butt, but it's Hioki who is doing the damage as the round ends. MMA Fighting scores round one 10-9 for Hioki.
Round 2: Elkins moving forward early, throwing his hands. Hioki takes a couple of shots, and now plows into Elkins and takes him down. He keeps Elkins to center of cage, and once again Elkins bounces back up. Elkins lands a left, while Hioki continues to work his body with kicks. Hioki using his knees now, too. Elkins once again moves forward and throws leather and catches a jab for his efforts. Elkins tries to come up with a kick, doesn't land it, and let's out a big breath. Now he shoots in for a double leg and hits it, Hioki working from guard. Hioki scoots to cage and will try and leverage himself back up. Elkins sticks to his back, driving his weigh onto Hioki and getting that position. Now Hioki able to turn his back to the cage, and Elkins begins working him with punches. As Hioki stands, Elkins -- relentless -- continues banging his knees into Hioki's thorax area. Elkins gets a little too cute and Hioki sweeps and ends up getting on top of Elkins. Back and forth grappling here. Elkins reverses and will finish the round banging away at Hioki's forehead with his fist. MMA Fighting scores round 2 for Elkins (19-19 overall).
Round 3: They being third by standing and trading. Both land and eat punches before peeling out of there and resetting. Elkins keeping the pace high; Hioki doing best to keep up. Elkins shoots in for takedown and lands it, and goes to work in Hioki's guard. Elkins dropping very audible punches down on Hioki. Meanwhile Hioki trying to set up a triangle, doing a great job of keep the danger on Elkins' end. They're both slippery right now. Elkins pops his head out, then plants his forehead into Hioki's chest and continues the ground and pound. Slowly he's made this his fight. Hioki again trying to set up triangle, and again Elkins having none of it. Elkins working Hioki's body. Big right hand to Hioki's head. Hioki trying to control his posture, and again, flirts with the triangle. All Elkins with a minute to go in the third. He continues to drop punches on Hioki. He's got a dominant position along the fence. Elkins just keeps active, and Hioki has nothing for him. The fight ends. MMA Fighting scores round 3 for Elkins, and has him winning the fight 29-29.

Justin Edwards vs. Brandon Thatch
Round 1: Rob Hinds is the referee. These guys are going right at it. Edwards momentarily dropped by a big shot from Thatch, but gets back up and after a pretty crazy exchange they go up against the fence. Another big shot to Edwards, this time a Thatch knee, and down he goes again. He's reeling. Edwards starting to absorb big shot after big shot as Thatch goes about his pursuit, and he Edwards is turtling up. Boom. Hinds has seen enough, and calls off the assault. Wow. Explosive stuff from Thatch in his debut. He got Edwards with a high kick and pounced on him, showed good poise, and dismantled Edwards with a barrage of hands and knees.

Dylan Andrews vs. Papy Abedi
Round 1: This middleweight fight will be officiated by Herb Dean. Abedi in southpaw stance, which makes for a game of patty cake early against the orthodox Andrews. A couple of isolated kicks from Abedi, both to the body and to the legs. There's a nice body kick from Abedi. Again, he moves in and throws a right hand, and he sets up a takedown attempt. Andrews with back on the fence, and Abedi picks him up and slams him down into side control. Trying to pass into mount, but Andrews spins and is able to stand up. Abedi works for another takedown and gets it, and now works from Andrews guard. All Abedi so far. Andrews tries to stand up but Abedi keeps the weight on him and leverages with the underhook. Abedi tries for a guillotine, but Andrews gets his head out. Now as Andrews tries for a takedown he gets tripped hard to the ground -- very awkward landing, but he seems okay. Abedi ends up on bottom, and Andrews finishes the round on top. All Abedi, though. MMA Fighting scores the first round 10-9 for Abedi.
Round 2: Andrews throws a couple of overhand rights to get started, neither land. Abedi right back into a body kick, which does. Andrews was complaining about his left hand being injured between rounds. Abedi bouncing his lead leg out there as a constant threat, and he's been landing it steadily. Andrews struggling to establish rhythm. Abedi, on the other hand, able to snap off kicks at will and is easily staying out of the way of the transparent right. Andrews gets Abedi down for a quick second, but Abedi right back up. He lands a hook which looks like it might have hurt Andrews a little. Abedi now in side control, and lays Andrews out. Big knee into the body of Andrews, and he follows that up with a big left hand which lands. As Andrews tries to stand, Abedi grab his neck again and cranks for a guillotine. Andrews coolly rolls to his back and no trouble getting out of it. In fact, he is able to stand up. In final seconds of second round, Andrews posts Abedi to the fence. Looked like Andrews landed a groin shot that Dean didn't see as the round ends. Abedi was audibly groaning. MMA Fighting scores round two 10-9 for Abedi (20-18 overall).
Round 3: Andrews comes out a little more aggressive, but Abedi turns him into the fence and grabs the wrists for control. They stall there and Dean separates them. Back to the center of the cage. Right hand lands for Andrews. As Abedia comes in, Andrews lands a nice right. Then, he lands two big uppercuts and down goes Abedi! Andrews follows him down and lands a couple of more big shots, and Abedi is out! Dean calls him off. A big uppercut landed and that sent Abedi towards Andrews legs for a takedown. Just as he did that he ate a couple of big shots and he was on his stomach flat and out. Great comeback for Andrews, who was down on the scorecards.
