Round 1: Yves Lavigne is our referee for this lightweight bout. Touch of gloves kicks us off. The Boston crowd is going wild for their hometown boy. Johnson picking his shots from outside the pocket. More straight punches from Johnson, though nothing lands flush. Lauzon presses forward with a pair of right hands. Big straight left barrels down the pipe and drops Lauzon! Lauzon leaps back to his feet, but Johnson is relentless. Lauzon weathering the storm. Johnson slows his pace and Lauzon appears to have regained his bearings. "Let's go, Lauzon!" chant erupts from the crowd. Johnson lunges inside and lands a huge uppercut on Lauzon's chin. Another big shot drops Lauzon to his back. Johnson lets him up, then unloads another salvo. Johnson tumbles to the mat but is saved by the horn. MMA Fighting scores it 10-9 Johnson.
Round 2: Johnson connects with a combination then fends off a takedown attempt. Lauzon still working for a single against the cage, but Johnson squirms away. Johnson finding a home for his lead jab. Lauzon fires back with a jab of his own. Lauzon slips a shot then lands a big counter left. Johnson bullrushes inside with a flurry. Johnson goes to work against the fence, but Lauzon muscles out relatively unscathed. Johnson ducks under a lunging punch and slams Lauzon onto his back. MMA Fighting scores it 10-9 Johnson. (20-18 overall.)
Round 3: Johnson working straight punches from distance. Oh, Lauzon eats a crushing combination! Lauzon changes levels for a desperation takedown but can't get it. Lauzon's face is battered. Johnson just firing at will now. Johnson lands a series of lefts followed by a tight right hook. Lauzon isn't mounting any offense. Just as I type that, Lauzon cracks Johnson with a straight right. Johnson continues to pepper Lauzon with one-twos. Johnson shakes off a knee to the body then secures a power double to end the round in top position. MMA Fighting scores it 10-9 Johnson (30-27 overall.)
