This is the UFC on FOX 8 undercard live blog for the UFC on FOX 8 event at the KeyArena in Seattle.
There will be eight fights on the UFC on FOX 8 undercard. Michael Chiesa vs. Jorge Masvidal, Danny Castillo vs. Tim Means, Mac Danzig vs. Melvin Guillard, Yves Edwards vs. Daron Cruickshank, Ed Herman vs. Trevor Smith, Julie Kedzie vs. Germaine de Randamie, Aaron Riley vs. Justin Salas, and John Albert vs. Yaotzin Meza will be featured on the prelims.

Round 1: Randy Corley is our referee. Albert pushes forward pumping his jab. Meza closes the distance and trips Albert to the canvas, landing in full guard. Meza looking to pass. Meza stands, then slithers in a guillotine. Albert works out of danger and into side control. Albert swirls around for the armbar. He nearly has it. Albert cranks and Meza rolls. Meza stays patients and eventually escapes. Albert rolls into half guard. Meza unloads a few short punches from top position. Meza rolls for the mounted guillotine. This is tight. 15 seconds left in the round. Albert muscles out and finishes the round in top position. MMA Fighting scores it 10-9 Albert.
Round 2: Both men come out on fire. Albert seizes a guillotine, then transitions into a triangle. Meza stands straight up. Albert fights through it and adjusts the triangle. This is close. Wow, Meza just powers out of it. Albert looks exhausted. Just like that, Albert gives up his back and Meza sinks in both hooks. Meza flattens Albert out and unleashes a salvo of punches. Albert is done. Meza snakes in one arm for the rear-naked, then the other. That's it, Albert taps.

Round 1: Randy Corley is the referee for this lightweight bout. The veteran Riley pursues Salas around the cage; Salas meets him with a right hand whenever he tries to close the distance. Same dynamic, except Riley throwing kicks. Still Riley still pursuing Salas. Salas with a takedown, but Riley's back to his feet. Riley blocks a head kick and throws a front kick which grazes Salas. Salas connects on a body kick. Salas still content to run and counter. Salas with another takedown, but again Riley pops right back up. Riley shakes off another Salas head kick. Silas lands a head kick and Riley's cut over his left eye. Riley stuffs a takedown. Salas goes for a takedown at the buzzer. MMAFighting scores the round for Justin Salas, 10-9.
Round 2: Salas comes out with a takedown and then a head kick as soon as they reach their feet. Riley stuffs a takedown attempt, he pushes Riley back to the feence, and they break without incdient. Riley lands a body kick but Salas responds with a takedown. Riley's face is slowly turning into a bloody mess and Salas is cut up as well. Riley with a sweet trip, but Salas pops right back up. Two minutes left. The pace slows. Salas with a two-punch combo as Riley charges in. Salas pops Riley in the face with a left hand. Riley sprawls a takedown, but Salas lands a head kick. Round 3: Salas shoots for a single in the early going. Riley somersaults out of it and then eats a head kick on the way up. Riley's spirit is willing but his body is showing the signs of too many cage wars. Time-out as Riley takes a bad eye poke. Back to action, two minute left. Riley hobble Salas with a brutal leg kick. Salas regains his balance. Riley with another let kick and Salas responds with a high kick. Salas shoots for a single and throws a high kick off the break. Salas lines up Riley for what would have been a nasty knee and just misses. Riley going for broke, connects on a head kick. Just misses with another one. Throws a spinning back fist that just misses. Julie Kedzie vs. Germaine de Randamie
Round 1: Randy Corley is the referee for this women's bantamweight bout. The duo ties up after an initial feeling-out period and clinch along the fence. De Randamie throws occasional knees. Kedzie, the crowd favorite, switch position, but de Randamie flips them back. They're still clinch a minute and a half later and taking turns landing knees. Da Randamie's starting to get the better of it. The crowd gets restless and Corley beaks them up, even though both were still working. Kedzie catches a da Randamie kick and the ensuing scramble ends with Kedzie pinning her against the fence. Da Randamie lands two knees to the body and another to the head as the break near the end of the round. MMAFighting scores the round for Germaine de Randamie, 10-9.
Round 2: Kedzie throws a low kick and De Randamie answers. Kedzie keeping her distance. She does land a low kick. Kedzie having trouble finding her range. Kedzie lands a high kick and a two-punch combo. De Randamie fires a right hand. Kedzie shoots for a single and lands the takedown. De Randamie does a solid job tying her up on the mat, though. Two minutes left. Kedzie starting to land left hands to the side of the head. 30 seconds left. De Randamie still tying Kedzie up. Kedzie lands a couple body shots in the closing seconds. Round 3: Kedzie shows a sense of urgency in a frantic opening sequence. It ends with De Randamie tying up Kedzie in a Thai clinch along the fence and landing knees. Kedzie reverses position. A knee briefly drops Kedzie, but she's back on her feet and we're back at center octagon two minutes in. De Randamie fires a big overhand left which just misses. Same with a big front kick. De Randamie catches Kedzie with a right. Kedzie misses a high spinning back kick. One minute left. Kedzie catches a De Randamie kick and turns it into a takedown. Ed Herman vs. Trevor Smith
Round 1: Herb Dean is the referee for this bout. The fight's first exchange ends with Smith, the hometown favorite as a Tacoma native, bodylocking Herman along the fence. Herman esxapes and lands an uppercut, then wobbles Smith with a right. Herman follows him and lands a couple more uppercuts in close. They break. Smith tags Herman with a big left, then a big right. This is turning into quite a slugfest. Smith absorbs another uppercut and a big knee. They clinch and Herman goes with the dirty boxing. Smith lands a knee and fires a right as Herman backpedals out of the way. Smith pops Herman with a right. Final minute. Herman sprawls a takedown attempt and lands a nasty two-punch combo. Round 2: Smith throws a head kick and slips. Herman goes to the mat and holds in him in a headlock. Smith catches him with a kick to the body as they get back to their feet. The pace slows. Smith with a low kick and Herman lands a body shot. Midway through the round. Herman has an answer every time Smith comes at him. Smith finally scores a takedown. Back to their feet with two minutes left. Smith scores two left hands and just misses with a right. Smith lands a left cross as Herman comes after him. Round 3: An early exchange ends with a Herman takedown. He’s got Smith in a triangle. Herb Dean looks like he’s close to calling it. He escapes and he’s back on his feet. Pace has slowed, as there’s a lot of clinch work without either guy getting much of an advantage. Two minutes left. A Smith kick lands low and Dean calls timeout. Smith kicks low and Herman lands two lefts. Herman goes for a takedown but Smith gets out of the way. Smith lands a head kick solid, but Herman doesn’t blink. Round 1: Cruickshank, who was a replacement for Spencer Fisher, firest a right hand and lands a solid body kick. Edwards responds with a kick of his own. Both fighters tentative in the early going. with Cruickshank circling to the outside, Edwards pursuing, and both guys firing an occasional shot. Cruickshank with a two-punch combo. Edwards tags him with a left to the jaw. Cruickshank fires a spinning back kick which misses. Both guys go for kicks right before the horn. MMAFighting scores the round for Yves Edwards, 10-9.
Round 2: More of the same in round two, as Cruickshank darts around and Edwards cuts off his angles. Cruickshank with a pair of head kicks. Edwards shakes his head "no" to both. Edwards with a pair of lefts. A Cruickshank body kick connects. They trade solid body kicks. One minute left. Edwards with a leg kick and a front kick to the body. Cruickshank connects on a spinning back elbow late. Similar close round to the first, but this time, Cruickshank connected more. Round 3: Still a kickboxing match, with neither guy able to gain a distinct advantage. Edwards just dodges an axe kick. Cruickshank connects with a head kick. Two minutes left. This fight is still wide open for whoever wants it more. Edwards doing most of the astalking and Cruickshank most of the circling, but neither man's throwing much. Round 1: Steve Newport is the referee for this lightweight fight. Guillard lands a body shot before Danzig ties him up and they grapple along the fence. They break. Guillard tags Danzig, who shakes it off. They clinch again and Guillard lands an elbow on the break. Danzig with a low kick. Guillard whiffs on overhand right. Guillard avoids a takedown attempt and ducks a Danzig right hand. Guillard catches Danzig with a right hand. Guilalrd with a two punch combo, the second of which rocks Danzig backwards. Round 2: An early grappling battle ends inconclusively. Guillard pops Danzig with a right to the face and suddenly has some spring in his step. Guillard with a kick to the body. Danzig with a low kick, then eats a right to the jaw as he comes in. Guillard drops Danzig with a big left to the jaw, opens up with hammerfists and puts him out. Newport breaks it up about three shots too late.
Round 1: Dan Miragliotta is the referee for this 160-pound catchweight bout. Castillo slips going for a head kick. The resulting scramble ends up with Castillo in Means' guard. Both guys are active in this position. This guys on for a solid two minutes with neither guy gaining a distinct advantage. Means is finally back to his feet, but Castillo stays with it and slams him back to the mat. Means gets up, Castillo gets his back and they hit the mat awkwardly. Means lines up Castillo for a huge knee and just misses. Castillo with another takedown, with about 45 seconds left. MMAFighting scores the round for Danny Castillo, 10-9.
Round 2: Means sprawls Castillo's first takedown attempt. Pace has slowed since the first round. Midway through the round, Castillo's engaging more, but Means is finally using his length and reach advantage to avoid him. Castillo shoots in for a takedown and finishes it off with a trip. One minute left. Castillo lands a couple elbows, but otherwise Means has him pretty well tied up. Round 3: Castillo pops Means with a pair of short left hands. Entertains the notion of a takedown but abandons it. Means lands a pair of solid knees from the Thai clinch, his first offense of note the entire fight. Castillo doggedly pursues a takedown and finally gets it, but Means gets free and ends up in side control. Means stands and lands a big punch to the downed Castillo. Castillo is back to his feet. Round 1: Dan Miragliotta is the referee for this bout. Masvidal missed weight on first attempt Friday but made it on second attempt. Chiesa goes for a takedown right away, and there's a scramble, but ultimately Chiesa gets him to the mat. They get back to their feet, break, and Chiesa tags Masvidal and drops him to the mat. Wild action as Masvidal escapes a submission, gets to his feet, and tags Chiesa, but Chiesa manages to shake it off. After a brief clinch, they break, and Chiesa connects with a two-punch combo. Two minutes left. Chiesa connects with a kick to the body and a left hand. Masvidal lands his own body kick. Chiesa with a two-punch combo and a front kick. Masvidal rocks Chiesa backwards, but Chiesa presses forward and tags Masvidal in the closing seconds. MMAFighting scores the round for Michael Chiesa, 10-9.
Round 2: Chiesa with a takedown out of the first scramble of the round. They get back to their feet, but Masvidal’s all over Cheisa’s back. Masvidal lands several solid short uppercuts. Chiesa with a right hand. Masvidal catches a kick, then Chiesa misses with a spinning wheel kick with his other foot and lands on the mat. Midway through the round. Masvidal lands several left hands and a couple right elbows. He’s got side contorl on Chiesa now. Chiesa gives up his back. Masvidal is opening up and landing lefts and rights, but Chiesa is still defending. Chiesa tries to get back to his feet but he eats several more punches. Masvidal has Chiesa in a choke in the closing seconds and Miragliotta waves off the fight a split second before the horn sounds.
