Former Strikeforce contender and TUF hopeful Roxanne Modafferi announces plan to move back to the USA

Former Strikeforce Bantamweight competitor and Ultimate Fighter Season 18 hopeful, Roxanne "The Happy Warrior" Modafferi, announced today via her blog that she's leaving Japan; her home for the past 8years, to live and compete again in the US.

She cites the rapid growth of Women's MMA, the mercuric rise of the all female Invicta Fighting Championships organisation, and of course; the UFC's creation of a women's 135lb division as motivation for her return to her homeland. It's been widely speculated that Modafferi will appear on the upcoming season of TUF as the timing of her disappearance from and return to the internet coincided with the filming schedule of the 18th season of the show.

Modafferi stated " I’m not where I want to be in my MMA career. It’s good, but I know I can be better. Especially now that the UFC is putting on women’s fights, and Invicta is huge and successful now. This is the time…I’m thirty years old. My body feels like it’s 50, some mornings. If I were ever to train full time and follow that dream, now is the time. Training is good here in Japan, but I want to train full time in the US." .

Modafferi is currently trying to end a 5 fight skid that started with a highlight reel knockout slam at the hands of Sarah Kaufman in Strikeforce in 2010. She dropped four straight after that to some stiff competition including current UFC Bantamweight Rosi Sexton and Invicta's current Flyweight Champ Barb Honchak who is riding a 7 fight win streak.
