UFC 161 results: Shawn Jordan stuns Pat Barry with 59-second TKO

Esther Lin, MMA Fighting

By now, you know what to expect from a Pat Barry fight: One fighter or the other is going to be dazed, if not looking up at the lights, when the bout is over.

But it's likely few predicted the swiftness with which Shawn Jordan would finish Barry on Saturday night at UFC 161.

Jordan landed a pair of giant right uppercuts, then swarmed him and finished him on the ground for the victory in their heavyweight bout at Winnipeg's MTS Centre. The bout was stopped at 59 seconds of the first round.

It was the biggest career win for the Baton Rouge native and former Louisiana State football standout.

"He's a friend, but it's our job," Jordan said. "It just sucks that one of us has to lose. He was trying to load up on the kick on me so I tried to beat him on the kick. I got him."

Jordan improved to 15-4, winning his second straight fight and fourth in the past five. Barry dropped to 8-6.
