We want Nick Diaz to be around.
As much as some of his antics may annoy me, I want to see Nick Diaz continue fighting in the prime of his life. At only 29, Diaz has options available to him that would keep in relevant in the UFC, assuming that he fullfils the necessary requirements in order to actually fight in the Octagon.
Robbie Lawler is fresh off a knockout win over Josh Koscheck at UFC 157 that bumped him into the top-10 rankings provided by the UFC. As far as I know, no opponent has been named for Lawler's next fight and a clash with Diaz would make sense for both parties. Lawler gets a chance to cement his status in the upper-echelon of welterweights and Diaz tries to get back into a legitimate conversation about a title shot if Georges St-Pierre moves up to 185 or loses the belt.
Coming off a loss in the previously mentioned fight, Josh Koscheck would provide an interesting match-up against Diaz. Immediately, this sounds like a fight that would be entertaining to see. If anything, the press conferences and build-up to it would be interesting to say the least. Both fighters are on the tail ends of two-fight losing streaks and both would almost be fighting for their place in the UFC at this point.
We could go on with other options for Diaz. I haven't heard of Martin Kampmann's whereabouts anytime recently. Diaz could move up to middleweight if he even wants to continue fighting in the UFC. The only person that really knows what is next for Nick Diaz is Nick Diaz...and does he really even know what he is going to do next?
Let me know what you think is next for Nick.
