Round 1: Referee Keith Peterson oversees this lightweight bout. We'll be referring to Cavalcante as "JZ" for brevity's sake. JZ opens quickly with a one-two. Gaethje fights off a sloppy double then answers with a right hook. JZ eats a knee. Gaethje pouring it on early. Gaethje unloads a few knees to the head against the fence. Gaethje creates some space, connects with a combination, then slips to the mat. Gaethje recovers and charges forward with a huge uppercut. Gaethje locks JZ against the fence. Short shot opens up a wide cut across JZ's forehead. JZ is a bloody mess. Peterson stops the bout to clean him up. Wow, that cut is nasty. Yep, the doctors are stopping this one.

Justin Gaethje def. Gesias Cavalcante via TKO (cut) at 2:27 of round one.
