may be an Army Ranger. He may be a nice guy. He may be a good mixed martial artist. What he isn't is funny. Kennedy made and incredibly offensive joke about the use of smallpox to wipe out Native Americans comparing it to GSP versus Nick Diaz
Now, before you all start with the "oh lighten up" shit. Don't. I've heard it all before. I've heard how we should just get over the residential schools where children were taken away from their families to be "civilized" and ended up raped, abused, killed. Over 3000 CHILDREN are confirmed to have died in these schools in Canada alone.
When the US and Canadian governments decided to ship blankets laced with smallpox to the Native people they had rounded up. Lord Jeffery Amherst stated repeatedly he wanted to exterminate the Native people:
Historian Francis Parkman, in his book The Conspiracy of Pontiac and the Indian War after the Conquest of Canada [Boston: Little, Brown, 1886] refers to a postscript in an earlier letter from Amherst to Bouquet wondering whether smallpox could not be spread among the Indians:
"Could it not be contrived to send the Small Pox among those disaffected tribes of Indians? We must on this occasion use every stratagem in our power to reduce them." [Vol. II, p. 39 (6th edition)]
I am a full blood Ojibway living on reserve in Ontario, Canada. I am extremely educated in my people's history and can tell you that in spite of Kennedy's claims that he knows Indians and that they're okay with what he said; we're not. Every idiot who says something racist about Native people always claims to have Native friends who think they're funny, that we take ourselves too seriously...trust me...we've been hearing this crap for a long time and it doesn't become any more true with repetition.
Holocaust jokes would never be tolerated or jokes about Slavery. Are my people somehow less important than other people's who have suffered attempts of genocide against them?
