Who should Hendo fight next?

Dan Henderson lost a close split decision against Lyoto Machida at UFC 157, in a rather uneventful fight that didn't match expectations of fans. Nonetheless, getting back on that horse again is what mixed martial arts is all about and we have to look forward to who Hendo will take on next. He says he wants to be very active this year, but if you take a look at his record he doesn't fight all that often in a span of 12 months. But he should be able to get in at least one more decent battle before year's end. So who should it be? A fight with Rashad Evans would be a good option. Evans is also coming off a decision loss, and that one was to Antonio Rogerio Nogueira. Both Evans and Hendo are great wrestlers who possess big punching power in their right hands. At this juncture in their careers, Evans has more tools in his arsenal, is quicker with his movement and wrestling. However, Hendo's right hand is legendary and his iron will has allowed him to win many tough battles across the globe. Evans against Hendo would be an interesting battle of both punching skill and wrestling talent. A second option is a more entertaining one. Glover Teixeira. Teixeira loves to stand up and fight like Hendo, and has quite a jaw and power in his punches too. Glover has shown some solid takedown ability as well, so this fight would be a well rounded battle, but more punching heavy for the fifteen minutes of scheduled action, should it go that long. While I'm an enthusiast of all aspects of the game, there is definitely still something tremendously appealing about two guys throwing heavy leather and firing off knockout punches, no matter how refined of a mixed martial arts observer you consider yourself. So Glover would be a very intriguing fight and the best option for fans, as well as Hendo and Teixeira. A win over Hendo gives Teixeira high praise in the rankings, and Hendo is right "back in the mix" with a win over Teixeira. Unfortunately Glover is scheduled to take on Ryan Bader later this year, so this plan is foiled unless Bader has to pull out due to injury. So first option for Hendo is Rashad Evans, and if that doesn't happen, Hendo should stay in shape and possibly take on Glover as an injury replacement. JD is the author of the MMA Trivia e-book
