A top flyweight contender has himself a new fight.
A week after having to pull out of a UFC on FOX 9 fight due to an undisclosed injury, John Moraga will now square off with Dustin Ortiz. The bout will take place at UFC Fight Night in the Atlanta area on Jan. 15.
The UFC tweeted the fight announcement on Thursday.
The Phoenix-based Moraga caught attention with a seven-fight win streak, which earned him a shot at flyweight champion Demetrious Johnson. Moraga was submitted in the fifth round by Johnson in their July fight, dropping his record to 13-2.
Ortiz, meanwhile, made a splash in his UFC debut on Nov. 9. Ortiz finished Jose Maria Tome via strikes in the third round of their fight in Brazil. The Tennessee-based Ortiz (13-2) has finishes in nine of his 12 victories and has won four straight fights.
