UFC Fight Night 29 took place October 9, 2013 at the Ginasio Jose Correa in Barueri, Brazil. Dong Hyun Kim won his third straight fight to improve to 18-2-1 (1 no-contest). Round 1: Mario Yamasaki is the ref. KIm Immediately with Silva on the fence, trying for single leg. Silva, gets out and runs a hot lap as Kim pursues. Silva tried to time out a big uppercut, but missed it. There's a 360-backfist from Kim, but doesn't land. Frenetic pace. Both guys throwing big leather, but fanning. Kim finally wrangles Silva and pushes him back on cage. Silva, who breaks, tries that uppercut again. Nothing doing. Kim throwing some bombs with his right but Silva keeps ducking. Kim does land one finally. They go to the ground, and Kim goes directly into mount. Kim working his elbows, and scoots Silva up to the fence. Silva trying to get a half-guard sweep, can't. Tried to get up, can't. Kim staying busy. Silva doing a good job of disrupting the offense by coming up with some of his own. He fishes for a leg lock, but can't get it. Kim trying to pass, and landing backhands. Silva will end the round on his back. MMA Fighting scores R1 for Kim, 10-9.
Round 2: Kim immediately closes the distance, and he gets punished for it. Silva lands a big shot, and then follows that up with another. Backwards they go. Silva throwing. Now he lands a big elbow. But Kim coolly tied him up and steers the action back into the chain links. Momentum restored for Kim. Now he moves forward and throws a right which lands. Silva just threw a huge right hand that missed, but had enough velocity to make Kim's hair move. Silva is moving in. Tried a spinning elbow, but missed, but lands a massive uppercut. Now follows up with another. Silva transitions into a body lock, and Kim grabs the fence to prevent the takedown. He is reprimanded by Yamasaki. Wow! Both guys throw simultaneously, and it's Kim that lands the left! Down goes Silva! Kim follows him down for a follow-up, but Silva was out cold. He was stiff as board on the canvas. Kim just shocked the Brazilian with that left, which popped him square in the face.
