Neither man over anxious for the takedown a minute into the third. Maia lands a good left hand, which lands and ultimately prompts Shields to shoot in for a double leg. Maia, as he did earlier in the fight, reverses and puts Shields on the fence. They scramble, and back to the center we go. Maia starts throwing and landing, once again with the left. He grabs his side and throws Shields to the ground, and right as he begins to go to work Shields reversed again! He goes right to work in half guard. Maia lets out a breath in frustration.
