UFC Fight Night 30 results: Jimi Manuwa vs. Ryan Jimmo ends on freak leg injury

Martin McNeil, SB Nation

For whatever reason, Jimi Manuwa's fights tend to end in strange fashion. His Saturday fight against Ryan Jimmo was no different.

Late in the second round of their UFC Fight Night bout in Manchester, England, Jimmo (18-3) backpedaled away after Manuwa threw a knee. Then something in Jimmo's left leg gave out, and he fell to the mat, unable to continue. The fight technically went into the books as a TKO at 4:41 of the round.

As it was, Manuwa was handily winning the fight against Jimmo, who was able to slow the fight down with his clinch work, but wasn't able to do much with it. Manuwa mixed up his striking and appeared to be turning things up another level when Jimmo's freak injury occurred.

"Man, I thought the fight was going my way," Manuwa said. "You don't want it to end like that, but I got the win in the end.

Manuwa, a Nigerian by way of London, improved to 14-0 with 13 finishes. His three previous fights all ended via TKO at 5:00 of a round, including his last fight, against Cyrille Diabate, which ended with a Diabate leg injury.
