Jose Aldo Uninjured After Hit by Car in Brazil Motorcycle Accident

UFC featherweight champion Jose Aldo, Jr. was struck by a car while riding his motorcycle in Brazil on Saturday, according to a report from Brazilian outlet Tatame.

Aldo was driving home when a vehicle collided with his motorcycle in the neighborhood of Copacabana, Rio de Janeiro. The motorist immediately stopped to check on the fighter, while surprised onlookers reportedly began asking the champion for autographs.

Aldo, who is scheduled to defend his title against former UFC lightweight champion Frankie Edgar at UFC 153 next month, suffered a few scratches and came away from the accident with a swollen foot, but was otherwise uninjured according to the report. Aldo is still expected to compete against Edgar at UFC 153, which takes place October 13 at the in HSBC Arena in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

Following the close call, Aldo's head coach, Nova Uniao co-founder Andre Pederneiras, reportedly forbid the featherweight champion from riding his motorcycle in the future.
