UFC on FUEL TV 5 live blog: Struve vs. Miocic

The sixth and final fight of the night at UFC on FUEL TV 5 is Stefan Struve vs. Stipe Miocic. This is a heavyweight fight, meaning neither fighter can be heavier than 256 pounds (with a one pound allowance). This bout is scheduled for five, five-minute rounds and is the main event of the night.

Round 1: the referee in charge of the action is Herb Dean. Both fighters open orthodox. Miocic goes twice to the body, but Struve seems unimpressed. Both fighters exchange leg kicks. Miocic going over and over to the body. Struve's head kick glances Miocic's head and Miocic follows with two shots to the body. Struve gets taken down with a single leg, but Miocic moves out as Struve postured for a submission. Nice knee to the body from Struve and hard outside leg kick. Leaping jab from Miocic as the round ends.

Round 2: Sruve lands a hard middle kick to open the frame. A groin kick from Stuve very briefly stops the action, but they resume fighting after a few seconds. Miocic reaches for a single leg, but lets it go mid-attempt. Struve leaping in with big hooks, but neither seems to land. Miocic is hurt and Struve is teeing off on him with uppercuts. Left hook from Miocic finds the mark. And another backs Struve up. Struve lands an uppercut, hook combo and Miocic is hurt. Miocic slips on the mat and eats a hard right for his effort. That rocks Miocic badly and Struve finishes with a few more punches until the referee stops the fight as Miocic falls to the mat.

UFC on FUEL TV 5 live blog: Hardy vs. Sadollah

The fifth fight of the night at UFC on FUEL TV 5 at the Capital FM Arena in Nottingham, England is Dan Hardy vs. Amir Sadollah. This is a welterweight fight, meaning 170 pounds. This bout is scheduled for three, five-minute rounds. Hardy vs. Sadollah is also the co-main event of the night.

Round 1: the referee in charge of the action is Marc Goddard. Sadollah takes center right away as the crowd chants 'Hardy'. Nothing lands by either fighter through the first minute. Left hook partially lands for Hardy. And another and another. Sadollah lands short right hand over the top of Hardy's guard. Sadollah clinches with Hardy along the fence. Hardy reverses Sadollah and is pressing him into fence. Now they back out and Thai clinch exchanging knees. Sadollah attempts a late takedown, but Hardy whizzers to prevent it.

Round 2: Second frame opens with action right away. Both fighters throwing leg kicks and Hardy with overhand rights. Sadollah lands a short left and then another. Right hand from Hardy as he steps in and another to the body. Hardy with a hard right hand that snaps Sadollah's head back. Dan Hardy lands a pick up double leg takedown, but Sadollah stands and they clinch along the fence. Left hand snaps Hardy's head back as they break away. Hardy throwing huge punches, but missing most of them. Hardy times a punch from Sadollah and lands a double leg in the center of the cage. Hardy stands out of Sadollah's guard and lands several short elbows.

Round 3: Hardy attempts another double leg, but can't get it and presses Sadollah into the fence. Sadollah has double underhooks and trying to drag Hardy down, but can't get it. They separate. Hardy now doing the stalking. Big left hook followed by a double leg takedown. Hardy on top now battering Sadollah with elbows. Sadollah gets to his feet, but eats a big left and right hook. Round ends with Hardy pressing Sadollah into the fence.

UFC on FUEL TV 5 live blog: Pickett vs. Jabouin

The fourth fight of the main card at UFC on FUEL TV 5 at the Capital Arena in Nottingham, England is Brad Pickett vs. Yves Jabouin. This is a bantamweight fight, meaning 135 pounds. This bout is scheduled for three, five-minute rounds.

Round 1: The referee in charge of the action is Leon Roberts. Both fighters open orthodox. A brief eye poke from Jabouin halts the bout, but Pickett returns quickly. Pickett taking center cage, but so far hasn't landed anything significant. Jabouin fires a knee up the middle as Pickett ducks. Pickett ducks a right hook and lands a shot to the body and a left hook, but Jabouin lands another knee. Hard right hook from Pickett as he tries to corner Jabouin. Pickett tries to catch a spinning back kick attempt for a double leg, but Jabouin stuffs it. And just like that a right uppercut from Pickett absolutely floors Jabouin. Knocks him out cold. Leon Roberts dives in to save an unconscious Jabouin.

The third fight of the main card for UFC on FUEL TV 5 from the Capital FM Arena in Nottingham, England is Paul Sass vs. Matt Wiman. This is a lightweight fight, meaning 155 pounds. This bout is scheduled for three, five-minute rounds.

Round 1: the referee in charge of the action is Herb Dean. Sass catches a kick and uses it as a single leg takedown. Sass drives Wiman into the fence, but he's still in full guard. Nice shot on top from Sass with a right hand. Sass drops back for what appeared to be a heel hook, but it misses. He transitions to the oma plata, but Wiman gets out of that. Now Sass uses an ankle to reclaim top position in a scramble. Wiman tries to throw up a triangle on Sass, but Sass escapes. Now Wiman transitioning to the armbar and gets it after breaking Sass' grip.

The second fight on the main card of the UFC on FUEL TV 5 event at the Capital FM Arena in Nottingham, England is John Hathaway vs. John Maguire. This is a welterweight fight, meaning 170 pounds. This bout is scheduled for three, five-minute rounds.

Round 1: Marc Goddard is the referee in charge of the action. Maguire opens southpaw, Hathaway orthodox. Both fighters exchanging minor leg kicks and attempted straight punches without much landing. Now Maguire lands a left straight. Hathaway clinches with Maguire after firing punches to close distance and scores a bit on the inside. Hathaway tries a knee tap takedown, but Maguire throws him by using his own momentum. Maguire changes levels and attempts a single along the fence, but Hathaway turns him with an outside cradle.

Round 2: Hathaway walking Maguire down now and takes him down with a body lock takedown. Hathaway stands out of Maguire's open guard and then moves back in, shrugging off a brief triangle attempt. Hathaway moving in and out of Maguire's guard, landing relatively minor shots the entire time. Hathaway gets back on top and this time in side control. Hathaway finishes the round standing out of Maguire's guard kicking his legs.

Round 3: Hathaway goes back to stalking Maguire, but misses with a head kick. The fighters trade a few punches, but nothing significant. Then Hathaway lands a right hand. Maguire turns the corner on a single then changes angles and it works. He's in side control now. Hathaway recovers half guard and then full guard. Hathaway lands a few upkicks before the round expires.
