Round 1: Steve Perceval is the referee. Mizugaki fires a right, but eats an eye poke. He seems to be fine and the bout is not halted. Hard outside leg kick from Mizugaki and Hougland misfires on a shot. He tries for several more, but so far Mizugaki is whizzering hard. Now the Japanese gets the takedown and works from Hougland's full guard. Hougland attempts an armbar, but Mizugaki escapes and fires a right hand over the top. He tries it again, but it's not working and Mizugaki is landing hard right hands. Hougland tries for a triangle, but he can't get it and again is on the receiving end of serious top game punishment. Hougland attempts a head and arm triangle from the bottom, but eventually lets it go and continues to absorb punishment.

Round 2: Left hand to the body to start the round and Hougland fails on a half-hearted shot. The two clinch as Hougland tries to take Mizugaki to the floor, but eats a knee and an elbow for his efforts. The Japanese bantamweight again fights fire with fire by taking down Hougland with a body lock. It looks like a repeat of the last round with Hougland framing up submissions and Mizugaki avoiding them, then eating punishment. Hougland rolls base down, but Mizugaki circles behind him. He abandons it and goes back to guard playing, meanwhile still eating shot after shot. The referee stands them up and the two trade hard right hands, but that sends Hougland back to the mat and now Mizugaki is on top again.

Round 3: Hougland actually lands a double, but slams so thoroughly he ends up overcommitting and Mizugaki rolls over and up. Hougland clinches as they stand and with double overhooks pulls guard. Again, Mizugaki is on top and firing down punch after punch. After more of the same, referee Perceval stands them up. Hougland tries for another takedown, but can't get it and we're back where we were. Hougland a bloody mess now with Mizugaki absolutely pounding on him within his guard.
MMA Fighting scores this round 10-9 Mizugaki and the fight 30-27.
