UFC 153 live blog: Silva vs. Bonnar

The main event of the evening at UFC 153 is Anderson Silva vs. Stephan Bonnar. This is a light heavyweight fight, meaning 205 pounds. However, Silva is also the UFC middleweight champion. This bout is scheduled for three, five-minute rounds. The referee in charge of the action is Marc Goddard.



Round 1: Bonnar comes out swinging and Silva slips evading giving Bonnar time to attempt a takedown against the fence. Silva stuffs it and now they're clinched. Bonnar's got double underhooks but isn't abe to do much with it. Silva turns Bonnar in the clinch and fires a hard shot, but Bonnar is still pressing him into the fence. Silva, bizarrely, just lays against the fence even when they clinch break, baiting Bonnar is return to that position. Silva's eating Bonnar's punches and returning fire seemingly when he feels like. Bonnar and Silva separate and Silva lands an outside trip. Bonnar evades but eats a right hand and a direct shot right to the body from a knee. Bonnar collapses and Silva swarms with a few more punches before the referee is forced to stop the contest.

UFC 153 live blog: Nogueira vs. Herman

The co-main event of the night at UFC 153 is Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira vs. Dave Herman. This is a heavyweight fight, meaning neither fighter is allowed to be heavier than 265 pounds (with a one-pound allowance). This fight is scheduled for three, five-minute rounds. The referee in charge of the action is Mario Yamasaki.



Round 1: Herman opens southpaw and lands a body kick. Nogueira clinches and tries to trip Herman, but he whizzers him over his hip. Nogueira goes for the deep half, but Herman flares out. They stand. Herman throws another kick and Nogueira catches it and uses it to force Herman into the fence. Hard inside leg kick from Herman, but he eats an overhand left. More inside leg kicks from Herman. Herman blocks a few punches and they're blocked, but Nogueira pushes Herman into the fence again. Right straight lands flush for Nogueira, but Herman responds with a middle kick. Herman avoids a takedown with a hard whizzer from Herman.

Round 2: A left hook at the end of a combination drops Herman and Nogueira follows. He moves to side control and postures for an Americana. He doesn't have it and lets it go. Now he's in mount, but Herman turns. Nogueira postures for an armbar, but loses it. They stand. Another hard whizzer from Herman throws Nogueira over his hips, but the Brazilian is looking for either a deep half or a leg ride. Herman escapes. Nogueira chasing Herman down with punches, but just missing. Nogueira lands a body lock trip and moves to mount. He attempts a back down armbar, but can't break the angle properly. Herman rolls over his own shoulders, so the armbar goes bellydown. Herman gets rolled over again and that's it, he taps.

The fourth fight on the main card of UFC 153 is Glover Teixeira vs. Fabio Maldonado. This is a light heavyweight bout, meaning 205 pounds. This bout is scheduled for three, five-minute rounds. The referee in charge of the action is...



Round 1: Both fighters open orthodox and Teixeira wallops Maldonado with a huge left hook. A follow-up punch sends Maldonado to the mat and Teixeira quickly moves to mount. Teixeira landing hard shots with elbows and punches. Unreal heart from Maldonado as he is getting abused at this point. Teixeira attempts a head and arm triangle, but Maldonado hangs out by capturing a leg as Teixeira tries to base out. Somehow Maldonado manages to his feet. Teixeira is teeing off on him before he eats a huge left hook. Teixeira is hurt, but Maldonado has no energy to follow up.

Round 2: An immediate double leg puts Maldonado on his back. He turns and tries to stand and Teixeira disengages. A couple of nice jabs from Maldonado, but he gets put on his back again from a double leg. Teixeira moves to mount very quickly and eats several hard elbows. Maldonado does a hip escape and Teixeira is back in half guard. Teixeira is going from various full guard, half guard and side control positions landing shots before the ref stands them up. A brief look at by the ringside physician and the bout resumes after he looks over Maldonado. Two left hooks and a right hand land for Teixeira.

UFC 153 live blog: Fitch vs. Silva

The third fight of the night at UFC 153 is Jon Fitch vs. Erick Silva. This is a welterweight fight, meaning 170 pounds. This bout is scheduled for three, five-minute rounds. The referee in charge of the action is Marc Goddard.



Round 1: Both fighters open orthodox, but Silva using a more open stance as well as switching stances. Silva throws a knee to the body, but Fitch catches it, changes direction and forces him to the mat off a trip. Silva is trying to stand, but Fitch is behind him and now has a hook in. It's not very secure as the time of this writing, but Fitch is pound him with right hands. Fitch lets it go, but drags Silva to the mat again. Fitch briefly attempted a standing arm triangle, but lets it go and they resume action in the center of the cage. Silva wings a right hand over the top and they clinch. The two clinch in the center of the cage again, but Fitch transitions to a single leg attempt. He then moves to a double and gets it, but Silva is still trying to stand. Another brief struggle, but now Fitch has Silva's back.

Round 2: Silva back to switching stances and eats an uppercut after missing on spinning back fist. Silva, however, hits a foot sweep, but Fitch is trying to reverse. He stands, breaks Silva's grip and they resume action in the center. He fires a knee to Silva's midsection, but it wasn't overly powerful. Fitch now pressing Silva into the fence hunting for a single or double. Fitch tries for a slide-by and slips off. Now Silva takes Fitch's back and it appears the choke with Silva is incredingly tight. And somehow Fitch manages to get out of it. Fitch reverses in guard and is pounding on him. Now Fitch takes Silva's back and attempts an arm bar.

Round 3: Fitch immediately wraps Silva up and body lock trips him to the mat. He's already pounding on him as he takes Silva's back. Silva is exhausted, but as Fitch transitions to a submission he slips off. Before Silva can do anything, however, Fitch is back on his legs and taking him down. Silva tries to stand again, but Fitch drags him back down again. Silva is getting abused here as Fitch rides him from full back mount. Silva rolls but he's got nothing for Fitch as the American tees off on him from mount.

The second fight of the night at UFC 153 is Phil Davis vs. Wagner Prado. This is a light heavyweight bout, meaning 205 pounds. This bout is scheduled for three, five-minute rounds. This bout is a rematch after their first bout was declared a no-content from an eye poke. The referee in charge of the action is Marc Goddard.



Round 1: Prado opens southpaw, Davis is orthodox. Both fighters are largely feeling each other out for over a minute before Davis times a double and takes Prado to the mat and against the cage. Prado is trying to stand, but Davis is now behind him and using a leg ride to keep Prado down. Davis lets him stand and just as he does he again changes levels for a takedown which results in a huge slam. Prado is able to stand again and after a failed single leg attempt he transitioned to a body lock, which, again means Prado goes for a ride from a slam.

Round 2: After about a minute Davis presses Prado against the fence and pulls his feet out from under him. Prado is sitting up against the cage and Davis lets him up, but clinches up with him. Davis again drags Prado to the floor and is working on top from loose half guard. Davis attempts a head and arm triangle, but Prado rolls out. As soon as he does, however, Davis front head locks him and moves to secure the anaconda choke. He does and then gator rolls Prado. The Brazilian taps shortly thereafter.

UFC 153 live blog: Maia vs. Story

The first fight of the main card at UFC 153 is Rick Story vs. Demian Maia. This is a welterweight fight, meaning 170 pounds. This bout is scheduled for three, five-minute rounds. The referee in charge of the action is Mario Yamasaki.



Round 1: Story comes charging out, landing a left hook and Maia is jockeying for a single leg. He hoists Story in the air and slams him down. Story whizzers hard to stand, but Maia trips him back to the canvas. They're working along the fence. And again Maia outside trips Story as the American tries to stand. Maia now completely has Story's back as he works for a rear naked choke. Maia torques Story's head to the side and blood pours of Story's nose. The American shows obvious signs of discomfort before he taps.
