Round 1: After a couple perfunctory jabs from each, Castillo shoots in for a takedown with absolutely no set-up. That's not going to work against Njokuani, and it doesn't work the second time he tries it either. The third time, however, he gets in close and disguises it just enough to put Njokuani down. Njokuani pops back up quickly and gets slammed, then works to his feet with Castillo glued to his back. Castillo eventually hauls him back down against the fence, but can't do much with it. Njokuani tries a nifty little hip toss, but Castillo stays on him. Castillo has both hooks in now and is looking for the choke with a minute left, but Njokuani turns into him and almost gets the top position. Castillo's wrestling wins out, and he puts Njokuani back down with an even bigger slam. Njokuani finally gets up and away in the last 20 seconds of the round, but can't get anything going. MMA Fighting scores it 10-9 for Castillo.

Round 2: Njokuani takes advantage of a chance to start standing and tries to find his rhythm with two-punch combos. Castillo knows enough to know he doesn't want to play this game for long, and he manages he shoots in from too far out. Njokuani manages to stifle him and go on the attack with damaging knees from the clinch. The tide seems to be turning here. Castillo looks increasing lost on the feet. A right hand lands flush for Njokuani and Castillo sinks down. Njokuani tries to keep after him, but in his eagerness he gives up a takedown. That might have saved Castillo's night, at least for now. Castillo manages to ride out the round on top, but he's not doing much but surviving. MMA Fighting scores it 10-9 for Njokuani.

Round 3: Njokuani looks like the fresher fighter to start the final frame. He comes forward with a punch combo and Castillo drops under in search of a takedown, but is denied. Seconds later Castillo again shoots from far out, but settles for winding up in the clinch. He gets in close and scoops Njokuani up for a slam, then goes back to work on holding him against the fence. Njokuani gets to his feet with Castillo on his back and tries to roll through. Castillo sees it coming and adds a nice knee to the chin when Njokuani gets to his feet. He doesn't stay there long, however, as Castillo walks through his strikes to put him down again. Seems like we've already seen a lot of these types of style match-ups tonight. Less than a minute to go in the fight, and Njokuani finally frees himself and goes to work with strikes. You can tell he senses the desperation and the opportunity here, but Castillo is just trying to stay away from him. A two-punch combo and a jumping knee from Njokuani caps off the round and the fight. MMA Fighting scores it 10-9 for Castillo.

Boos from the crowd indicate that not everyone in the MGM Grand agrees. They even boo Castillo as he tries to thank his mother. Ouch.
