Ryan Bader faces Jason Brilz at UFC 139.

SAN JOSE, Calif. -- This is the UFC 139 live blog for Ryan Bader vs. Jason Brilz, a light heavyweight bout on Spike TV in support of tonight's UFC pay-per-view from the HP Pavilion.

Bader (12-2) lost both his fights this year against Jon Jones and Tito Ortiz -- both via guillotine choke. Brilz (18-4-1) is also on a two-fight skid, falling to the likes of Antonio Rogerio Nogueira and Vladimir Matyushenko.

Round 1: Both men respecting the other's power on the feet early, swinging from way too far out and not coming close. It's early yet. They'll figure it out. Brilz looks for an overhand right and misses, but Bader lands a nice counter left. Bader jabs his way in and lands a straight right just behind Brilz's ear. Brilz goes face-down into the canvas, and he's out. Referee Jason McCoy jumps in before he can take any unnecessary damage.
