Round 1: Riley comes out flicking that jab in Ferguson's face, but Ferguson avoids it well and fires back a couple straight shots on his own. Riley tries to hook his way in close and Ferguson shoves him back, then pops him with a right. Good leg kick by Riley gives Ferguson something to think about. The work rate is high between these two early on. Ferguson rocks Riley with a left uppercut, right straight, then throws the exact same combo a second time with even more success. Riley is hurt and Ferguson follows him from one side of the cage to the other, banging on him all the way. Riley recovers and snaps an inside leg kick that may have caught a piece of Ferguson's cup. This only seems to anger Ferguson, who turns up the volume of his attack. Riley's showing blood in his mouth, but hanging tough. The round ends with Ferguson chasing him down with kicks. MMA Fighting scores it 10-9 for Ferguson.
As he walked to his corner between rounds, the blood was dripping out of Riley's mouth and onto his chest. He looks upset, and the doctor comes in to take a closer look. Not to go all Dr. Joe Rogan on you, but we could be looking at a broken jaw. Yep, the doctor's calling it between the first and second. Riley is upset, but there's nothing he can do. As he leaves the Octagon his jaw is hanging open in a painful looking posture.
Tony Ferguson def. Aaron Riley via TKO (doctor's stoppage) at the end of round 1.
