New Promotion Books Alexander vs. Al-Hassan for Inaugural Main Event

A new MMA organization called MMA Fight Pit has announced its debut show, entitled "Genesis," for Aug. 13 in Albuquerque, N.M. The main event will feature a light heavyweight bout between former UFC fighters Houston Alexander and Razak Al-Hassan.

In the co-main event, former WEC stars Jens Pulver and Coty Wheeler will do battle in featherweight action.

Other notable fights recently announced for the card were Junie Browning vs. Lenny Lovato and Jamie Yager vs. Willie Parks.

Alexander (12-6, 1 NC) has won three in a row since losing to Joey Beltran on a local show in Oklahoma in 2010. He last UFC fight was a loss to Kimbo Slice in 2009.

Al-Hassan (11-3) had his five-fight winning streak snapped when he lost to Dwayne Lewis at MFC 27 in Nov. 2010. He was released from the UFC in 2009 after going 0-2 against Steve Cantwell and Kyle Kingsbury.

Pulver (24-15-1) recently lost to Brian Davidson at Titan FC 18, which snapped his two-fight winning streak, while Wheeler (14-3) enters the fight riding a two-fight winning streak.

The event will air live on pay-per-view from the legendary "The Pit" in Albuquerque. The cost of the pay-per-view will be $29.95
