UFC 122 Live Blog: Duane Ludwig vs. Nick Osipczak Updates

This is the UFC 122 live blog for Duane "Bang" Ludwig vs. Nick Osipczak, a welterweight bout on tonight's Spike TV event from the Konig Pilsener Arena in Oberhausen, Germany.

Duane Ludwig (19-11) is 0-2 in UFC action this year, losing to Jim Miller and Darren Elkins. After starting his career 5-0, Nick Osipczak (5-2) is also coming off two straight losses in 2010.

The live blog is below.

Round 1: Slick Nick lands a leg kick. Ludwig targets the head with a kick and it's blocked. Ludwig comes in with punches and Osipczak defends. They both try head kicks. The lankier Osipczak continues to land leg kicks. Ludwig answers a leg kick and then shoots a head kick that backs Osipczak. Ludwig goes in for the finish but they end in clinch. Osipczak grabs a hold of a leg and Ludwig sneaks his leg out. Ludwig with a flurry that backs Osipczak. Ludwig throws aggressively. Osipczak connects on a counter right. Ludwig continues to stalk Osipczak, but Osipczak counters with a right elbow and a left hook, dropping Ludwig. Ludwig quickly stands back up but he's dropped again with a left hook. Osipczak follows up and mounts Ludwig with a little over a minute 30 seconds left. Ludwig is bleeding. Ludwig does a great job of scrambling up but Osipczak puts him back down. Ludwig positions in open guard with 40 seconds left. Ludwig was winning the round until he got caught. Osipczak steals the round. 10-9 Osipczak

Round 2: Osipczak keeps Ludwig at bay with leg kicks. Ludwig with a counter left. Ludwig controlling the ring with leg kicks. Osipczak finally shoots at 1:40 and gets the single-leg. The referee stands them up and it's Ludwig who goes for the takedown only to have it stuffed. 10-9 Osipczak

Round 3: Ludwig continues to be the aggressor, mixing in a variety of combos. Osipczak doing a lot of covering up and walking away. Minutes in, Osipczak looks gassed. Ludwig moves in and lands knees to the body in clinch. Ludwig with a knee to the head. Osipczak just walks away. Ludwig unloads more punches and kicks. Osipczak is a walking punching bag at this point. Ludwig drives for the takedown but the bell sounds. 10-8 Ludwig. I'm scoring fight fight a draw, but can easily go either way. It depends on how the close second round was scored.

Official Result: Ludwig wins by split decision (28-30, 29-28, 29-28)
