UFC 118 Live Blog: Nate Diaz vs. Marcus Davis Updates

Nate Diaz vs. Marcus Davis is expected to have plenty of fireworks at UFC 118.BOSTON -- This is the UFC 118 live blog for Nate Diaz vs. Marcus Davis, a welterweight bout on tonight's UFC pay-per-view from the TD Garden.

Diaz will be fighting for his second time at welterweight (though technically his last fight was above welterweight since Rory Markham failed to make weight) after stopping Markham at UFC 111 in March. Davis won his one fight this year at UFC 113 in May via TKO over Jonathan Goulet.

Round 1: Davis lands a straight left early as he gauges distance. Davis lands again, then drags Diaz briefly to the ground to a big pop. Davis got bloodied in the exchange around his right eye. Diaz landing volume early while Davis lands the harder punches, scoring several times with the left. Midway through they clinch and Diaz lands a knee to the body. Diaz throws a combo and drops level for a takedown try, but Davis defends well. The stream of blood down Davis' face is getting worse though. Diaz really finding his range as the round wears on, and his accuracy is improving. Davis is willing to take a few to give a few, and he's definitely doing both. Strong first round. MMA Fighting scores it for Diaz, 10-9.

Round 2: Between rounds, the doctor checked Davis' cut and eyesight and he was cleared to continue. Diaz tries for the takedown again, but Davis frees himself. A Diaz right hook landed nicely but Davis responded with another left over the top. That's been his best punch of the fight but it also puts him right into Diaz's striking range, and he's long enough to take advantage and often does. Diaz tries a takedown, but Davis gets one instead. Diaz reverses as the round expires. A very close round. MMA Fighting scores it for Diaz, 10-9.

Round 3: Davis offers to touch gloves before the round, Diaz declines. The crowd tries to rally Davis by chanting his name. Diaz has some swelling over his right eye now, too. Diaz scoring with combinations as we hit the midway point. Davis double-legs Davis and brings him to the ground. Diaz works from half-guard, then locks on a guillotine and puts Davis to sleep.

Winner: Diaz via technical submission (guillotine), Rd. 3, 4:02
