Vladimir Matyushenko Signs New UFC Deal

Vladimir Matyushenko still has a home in the UFC despite suffering a first-round TKO loss to Jon Jones earlier this month at UFC on Versus 2.

According to Matyushenko's representation, Alchemist Management, the 39-year-old Belarusian has signed a new four-fight deal with the UFC, which means for the first time in his career, Matyushenko will remain with the UFC for at least four straight fights.

Matyushenko, who is currently in his third stint with the UFC, made his UFC debut with a win over Yuki Kondo at UFC 32 in 2001 and three months later lost in a championship bout against Tito Ortiz. Matyushenko took some time off and defeated Antonio Rogerio Nogueira in Japan only to return to the UFC at UFC 40 after a 19-month Octagon absence.

Matyushenko defeated Travis Wiuff and Pedro Rizzo before losing to Andrei Arlovski to close out his second UFC run.

Matyushenko returned last September -- six years after the Arlovski fight -- and defeated Igor Pokrajac at UFC 103. In his next fight Mayushenko earned a split decision over Eliot Marshall to position himself for the Versus fight against Jones.

Nicknamed "The Janitor," Matyushenko is a former IFL light heavyweight champion and holds a career MMA record of 24-5.
