Zoila Frausto Beats Jessica Pene in Bellator Women's Tournament

CHICAGO -- Zoila Frausto advanced to the semifinals of the Bellator Fighting Championships women's tournament Thursday night at Bellator 25, easily controlling Jessica Pene to win a unanimous decision.

It wasn't a particularly exciting fight -- certainly nothing like the fireworks of Frausto's previous fight, a first-round knockout of Rosi Sexton -- but it was a dominating performance by Frausto, who won 30-27 on all three judges' cards. Frausto said afterward that she was disappointed in her own performance and that cutting to 115 pounds had been difficult for her.

"I won, but 115 was a little hard, so I have to get used to do this," Frausto said. "But I won and that's all that counts."

Frausto, who improved her record to 8-1,showed that even on an off night she's a good enough striker to beat a game opponent in the previously undefeated Pene. Megumi Fuji is unquestionably the favorite in Bellator's 115-pound women's tournament, but Frausto could give Fuji a run for her money.
