Strikeforce Live Blog: Miesha Tate vs. Maiju Kujala Updates

This is the Strikeforce live blog for Miesha Tate vs. Maiju Kujala, a women's tournament bout on tonight's Strikeforce Challengers 10e card from the Dodge Theater in Phoenix, Ariz.

The winner of Tate and Kujala will meet the winner of Carina Damm vs. Hitomi Akano to determine a Strikeforce women's tournament champion. The women's semifinals bouts will be two, three-minute rounds.

The live blog is below.

Round 1: Tate enters jabbing and soon after comes in to work the clinch with Kujala. Pressing Kujala against the cage, Tate scores points with knees to the thighs. Joachim Hansen is in the corner of Kujala. Tate scores the takedown with a little over a minute left in the round and enters into halfguard. Kujala grabs a headlock and Tate looks for the sneaky Von Flue choke. Wow, the referee just stood her up when she was attempting a submission. Terrible, absolutely terrible call.

Round 2:
Tate throws a flurry of punches and it's Kujala who closes the distance for the clinch. They separate and tie-up again. They separate. Tate misses a head kick. Kujala shooting jabs and she's landing. Tate grabs a Muay Thai clinch and lands knees. Kujala answers with uppercuts. Tate shoots for the takedown and powers her way to finish inside Kujala's guard. Tate scores with short punches in the halfguard of Kujala. MMAFighting.com scores the round 10-9 for Tate and the fight 20-18 for Tate.

All judges give it to Tate for the unanimous decision win.
